CMS LTF | Professional Services | 500 | $100M | United Kingdom | Veeam | Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator | Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) | 2021 | n/a |
In 2021, CMS LTF deployed Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator to formalize its disaster recovery strategy under the Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) model. The implementation was driven by a rapid shift from predominantly office-based, on-premises systems to a hybrid cloud architecture following the COVID-19 pandemic, and by strict requirements for security, data protection and legal retention periods articulated by the firm.
The deployment leverages Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator alongside the Veeam Availability Suite for centralized backup and recovery orchestration. Functional capabilities implemented include automated recovery orchestration for CDP replicas, regular replicas, backups and storage snapshots, testable and documented DR plans that can be executed with a single click, and orchestration of application- and site-level recovery. CMS LTF also uses Veeam Instant VM Recovery to restart virtual machines from backup within minutes, Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows to include physical servers in the protection scope, Veeam ONE for monitoring and alerting of backup processes, and Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 to retain SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Teams data.
Integrations are explicitly with the central VMware virtual infrastructure and Microsoft Office 365 services, with backup copies written to separate cloud storage in Microsoft Azure. The Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 deployment uses double encryption, combining a platform-managed key with a customer-managed key to meet GDPR and ransomware protection requirements. Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Teams is used to perform granular restores of Teams configurations, channels, files and messages.
Governance and operational coverage center on the central data center and the firm’s distributed offices, with processes to dismantle decentralized servers in remote offices and move services to the central infrastructure or cloud. Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator reduced manual recovery planning by automating orchestration, enabling documented test runs and one-click execution of DR plans. The firm reports concrete operational outcomes that include rapid VM recovery within minutes, successful recovery of user access after a regional outage without data loss, and centralized visibility and alerts for backup health and storage capacity.

FILL Gesellschaft | Construction and Real Estate | 400 | $35M | Austria | Veeam | Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator | Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) | 2019 | n/a |
In 2019, FILL Gesellschaft implemented Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator to formalize a Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) posture for its manufacturing IT and production critical applications. The decision responded to continuous digitization of production lines and a need to ensure round the clock availability of virtual and physical processes that support ERP, CAD/CAM, simulation and industrial IoT workloads.
The implementation combined Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator with Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam Cloud Connect to create an orchestrated backup and recovery fabric. More than 150 virtual machines running on VMware vSphere were brought under automated backup schedules, with Instant VM Recovery enabled for rapid restart of failed VMs and Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Server used for transactional point in time restores of critical databases. Veeam SureBackup was configured to perform automated recoverability checks across protected systems.
Operationally the solution integrated with Infotech EDV Systeme as the managed service provider, with nightly transfer of encrypted backup copies to the service provider data center and daily log and report evaluation by Infotech. Alerting was configured to notify both Fill and Infotech by e mail on error conditions and responsibilities for incident identification and remediation were documented. A disaster recovery strategy was developed jointly, starting with identification of applications required for production and conducting realistic recovery tests to validate recovery sequencing.
Governance and runbook changes accompanied the technical rollout, with defined roles for monitoring, incident escalation and recovery testing between Fill and Infotech. The deployment enabled instant restart of protected virtual machines directly from backups to avoid interruptions to production, granular application object recovery for database accuracy, and continuous automated recoverability validation through SureBackup. These capabilities supported Fill’s requirement to obtain flexible server, storage and network capacity as a service rather than provisioning an internal outage data center.

Inchcape Australia | Retail | 1500 | $150M | Australia | Veeam | Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator | Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) | 2019 | n/a |
In 2019 Inchcape Australia deployed Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator as part of a broader Veeam implementation to strengthen resilience under the Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) category. Inchcape Australia operates more than 200 business applications across distribution, logistics, retail and inventory functions, supporting a 1,500 person organization and numerous brand relationships, creating a need for continuous service levels and defined recovery targets.
The implementation encompassed Veeam Availability Suite components including Veeam Backup and Replication and Veeam Availability Orchestrator, along with targeted use of Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365. Engineering work focused on disk-based backup for more than 200 virtual machines, defining application tiers and mapping Recovery Point Objective and Recovery Time Objective targets, with Tier 1 applications receiving hybrid cloud protection and a target RPO and RTO of four hours.
Integrations were implemented with the existing VMware virtualized estate, and cloud connectivity to Microsoft Azure and AWS was used to enable hybrid retention and rapid failover for high priority workloads. Veeam Backup and Replication was also applied as a migration mechanism to move data to both cloud and new on-premise infrastructure, while Office 365 backups were provisioned for over 1,000 accounts to secure collaboration data for staff and partners.
Operational governance was formalized through new service level agreements and application tiering, coupled with change control improvements to reduce outage risk. Automated testing and reporting from Veeam Availability Orchestrator was instrumented to validate end to end recovery plans and document achievable RPO and RTO, with test windows short enough to run during business hours.
The program addressed material operational risks that had produced outages up to 36 hours and eliminated reliance on an extensive tape estate that cost approximately fourteen thousand dollars per month and included over 10,000 tapes. Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator and the associated Veeam modules delivered repeatable orchestration, faster recovery workflows and documented recovery processes, enabling the IT team to shift focus from daily backup maintenance to broader cybersecurity and availability activities.
