Brokers International | Insurance | 115 | $100M | United States | Vena Solutions | Vena Insights | EPM | 2020 | n/a |
In 2020, Brokers International implemented Vena Insights as part of a broader EPM deployment to centralize budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting for the 115-person insurance brokerage. The implementation addressed fragmented spreadsheet processes that delayed month end close and obscured revenue drivers, and it positioned Vena Insights for use across finance and executive reporting workflows.
The deployment configured Excel-native automated templates for budgeting, monthly reforecasting and financial reporting, and it produced interactive dashboards through Vena Insights that are tailored by audience from analyst to C-suite. The configuration removed recurring reclassifications by creating a single source of truth and enabled the finance team to close by the seventh business day, while board reporting was reduced to under ten minutes.
Integrations were implemented using Vena's ETL connector to automate consolidation between Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and NetSuite, and the project included a redesign and migration of the chart of accounts and general ledger into the EPM model. Vena was also used to reconcile production data with cash receipts to identify missed revenue, converting manual millions-of-transaction validations into an automated reconciliation process.
Governance and rollout relied on Vena Expert Managed Services Plus, which provided a dedicated Vena expert to operate as an extension of the finance team and to train internal users, while the CFO led ongoing model stewardship. The controlled rollout supported production of the company’s first Quality of Earnings report and scenario-based investor forecasting, and explicitly delivered outcomes reported by the customer including a nine day reduction in month end close, board reporting under ten minutes, and a run rate toward 60 percent year over year revenue growth using Vena Insights within the EPM environment.

Neumann Steel | Construction and Real Estate | 350 | $50M | Australia | Vena Solutions | Vena Insights | EPM | 2018 | n/a |
In 2018, Neumann Steel implemented Vena Insights from Vena Solutions as its EPM platform. The deployment centralized financial planning and analysis for the 350-person construction and real estate firm and targeted consolidation across more than 30 business units, supporting the CFO, Financial Controller, and Board reporting cycles.
Vena Insights was configured to support granular budgeting, product-segment revenue forecasting, payroll budgeting and multi-entity consolidation workflows. The implementation included template-based input forms, dimensional modeling for product and cost centers, and scenario-driven forecast capabilities to support monthly and annual budget cycles.
The Vena Insights deployment was integrated with the company Business Intelligence environment, with Power BI used for executive dashboards and automated labour cost reports, and linked to payroll data feeds to enable near real-time payroll analytics. The company’s Business Analyst and Management Accountant served as the primary Vena Solutions subject matter expert, managing system configuration, optimization and consultant resources to align data models and reporting outputs.
Governance was established through a centralized FP&A owner and standardized reporting packages for monthly management and Board reporting, with a phased rollout approach where Phase 1 achieved go-live and Phase 2 was planned for advanced forecasting and additional integrations. The project produced a consolidated annual budgeting process and streamlined reporting workflows, and delivered automated labour cost visibility and faster preparation of management packs.

Saint Mary’s University | Education | 950 | $100M | Canada | Vena Solutions | Vena Insights | EPM | 2020 | n/a |
In 2020 Saint Mary’s University implemented Vena Insights from Vena Solutions as its EPM platform to support budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting across the university. The deployment built on an earlier Vena deployment from the 2013-14 school year and focused on solving tuition revenue modeling and faster financial close for the institution.
The implementation delivered core EPM capabilities including flexible tuition revenue modeling, driver based forecasting, consolidated budgeting, and interactive reporting and dashboards. The team used Vena Insights to construct a custom data model that calculated weekly changes in course registrations and translated those flows into tuition revenue by semester, course, faculty and student residency, and the project automated 32 Excel spreadsheets into a once a year run to eliminate repetitive manual updates.
Integration work included weekly data channels that ingested year to date student course enrollment data from Ellucian Banner for ERP, supporting models for more than 7,000 students and international student segmentation. Operational coverage centered on the finance office, the director of institutional data analysis and planning, budget owners and executive leadership, enabling real time enrollment visibility that informed revenue forecasts as the university pivoted to online learning during the COVID-19 period.
Governance and workflow changes emphasized centralized reporting and single source of truth principles, moving stakeholders from paginated tables to interactive visuals and reducing biased departmental reporting. Explicit outcomes recorded by the university include accelerating budget reviews by 70 percent, reducing capital project analysis from one week to two hours, and the ability to generate custom reports in minutes, outcomes that led Saint Mary’s to extend Vena Expert Managed Services Plus engagement for continued support.
