Apps Purchases: 10+ Million Software Purchases
Founded in 2010, APPS RUN THE WORLD is a leading technology intelligence and market-research company devoted to the application space. Leveraging a rigorous data-centric research methodology, we ask the simple B2B sales intelligence question: Who’s buying enterprise applications from whom and why?
Our global team of 50 researchers has been studying the digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by 2 million + companies including technographic segmentation of 10 million ERP, EPM, CRM, HCM, Procurement, SCM, Treasury software purchases, aggregating massive amounts of data points that form the basis of our forecast assumptions and perhaps the rise and fall of certain vendors and their products on a quarterly basis.
Apps Run The World Buyer Insight and Technographics Customer Database has over 100 data fields that detail company usage of emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Autonomous Database, and different on-prem and cloud apps by function, customer size (employees, revenues), industry, country, implementation status, year deal won, partner involvement, Line of Business Key Stakeholders and key decision-makers contact details, including the systems being used by Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 companies.

Aon | Professional Services | 60000 | $15.7B | United Kingdom | Oracle | Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse | Data Warehouse | 2023 | n/a | In 2023, Aon implemented Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse as the central platform in a Data Warehouse strategy to centralize customer feedback analytics and to operationalize OCI AI services for sentiment processing. The implementation, validated in a proof of concept and moved to production in approximately 25 days, was positioned against a goal to convert large volumes of unstructured text feedback into actionable analytics for customer service and product teams. The deployment architecture replicates feedback and Sales Cloud data into Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse using Oracle Analytics Cloud for ingestion, then leverages the Autonomous Database converged engine for preprocessing with SQL and PL/SQL. OCI Language is invoked from Autonomous Data Warehouse through the PL/SQL service API to run sentiment analysis, key phrase extraction, and named entity recognition, and the analysis results are persisted in database tables and exposed as prepared views. Functional capabilities implemented include automated ETL-style preprocessing inside Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, embedded language AI calls for sentiment and entity extraction, and a semantic data model surfaced to Oracle Analytics Cloud for visualization and exploration. The solution leverages Autonomous Data Warehouse native SQL and PL/SQL for transformation and orchestration, OCI Language pretrained models for text analytics, and Oracle Analytics Cloud for data modeling, visualization, and end user consumption. Operational coverage included global reporting and analytics consumers, data scientists, and administrators who access curated views and dashboards in Oracle Analytics Cloud, with the data pipeline constructed by Oracle Consulting. Governance relied on centralized data processing within Autonomous Data Warehouse, consistent transformation logic implemented in SQL and PL/SQL, and secure model invocation through OCI Language APIs to ensure repeatable sentiment scoring and structured result sets. As reported, the implementation enabled Aon to convert unstructured feedback into structured insights so colleagues can identify customer priorities and monitor sentiment through interactive dashboards. Aon intends to extend OCI AI use cases for broader sentiment analysis and explore Oracle Machine Learning capabilities for predictive analytics on the Autonomous Data Warehouse platform. | |
