Bunzl Retail Supplies | Distribution | 400 | $150M | United Kingdom | Blue Yonder | JDA Warehouse Management System | Warehouse Management | 2019 | n/a | In 2019 Bunzl Retail Supplies implemented JDA Warehouse Management System as its Warehouse Management solution across a major distribution infrastructure program in Northampton, United Kingdom. The deployment supported the construction and relocation into a new 230,000 sq. ft Distribution Centre and Head Office for Woodway UK and formed part of parallel programmes for Lightning Packaging Supplies. The JDA Warehouse Management System was configured to deliver core warehouse capabilities including inbound receiving, putaway, inventory control, order picking and wave orchestration, packing and shipping execution, and labor management workflows. Configuration work emphasized warehouse process orchestration and operational parameterization to align WMS tasking with store replenishment and bulk distribution flows typical of a retail supplies distributor. Integrations were implemented with SAGE1000 ERP to synchronize orders, inventory and financial-relevant transactions, with Microlise TMS to exchange shipment and routing events, and with in house CRM and e-commerce developments to capture order input and customer-facing status updates. These integrations enabled an end to end order to ship information flow, connecting Warehouse Management controls to enterprise ordering and transport layers across Bunzl Retail Supplies operations. Governance and rollout were managed through a program structure staffed by a Systems Project Manager and Programme Manager, with a Product Owner driving Agile IT and business process change initiatives. The implementation was executed as part of coordinated IT business transformation programs, using iterative delivery to embed new WMS-driven workflows into operations, IT, finance and distribution site processes. | |
