Colorcon UK Life Sciences 291 $25M United Kingdom Oracle Oracle ASCP Module Advanced Planning and Scheduling 2014 n/a In 2014 Colorcon UK implemented the Oracle ASCP Module to establish system-driven planning capability within its Advanced Planning and Scheduling environment for supply chain planning. The Oracle ASCP Module was deployed to standardize planning across procurement, production scheduling, and inventory management functions within the company’s UK operations. Configuration focused on core Advanced Planning and Scheduling capabilities, including finite and rough-cut capacity planning, supply and demand balancing, pegging, and rule-based scheduling and heuristics. The Oracle ASCP Module was configured to support multi-horizon planning and to enforce constraint-aware production windows and order sequencing typical of batch-oriented life sciences manufacturing. Integrations were executed with the company’s ERP and reporting stack, leveraging existing Oracle systems knowledge and Hyperion reports for plan reconciliation and management reporting. Master data alignment for items, routings and locations was part of the integration scope, enabling the Oracle ASCP Module to consume transactional supply and demand feeds and to publish planned orders back to downstream transactional systems. Governance changes accompanied the technical rollout, with new planner roles, structured release cycles for planning rules, and centralized ownership of planning parameters and calendars. The implementation used phased adoption across planning and operations teams in the UK, combining configuration controls and process documentation to convert manual scheduling steps into repeatable, system-driven workflows.
Intersurgical Manufacturing 3000 $341M United Kingdom Mecalux Mecalux Easy WMS Warehouse Management 2020 n/a In 2020, Intersurgical implemented Mecalux Easy WMS as its Warehouse Management platform across multiple international sites, with a concentrated deployment at the Wokingham UK warehouse. The rollout addressed a rising SKU count exceeding 3,000 and integrated Mecalux Easy WMS with EFACS ERP via an SQL Server database to exchange transactional and operational data for coordinated execution of warehouse tasks. The implementation configured core warehouse modules for receipt and storage management, zone-based order preparation, reserve replenishment and transfer control, picking and consolidation, and dispatch orchestration. Mecalux Easy WMS enforces task assignment by zone so operators can only perform activities in their designated areas, reducing cross-zone interference and aligning physical flows with system tasking. At the Wokingham site the physical layout and system architecture are tightly coupled, with distinct areas for incoming receipts and storage, a dedicated picking and order preparation zone, and an intermediate goods exchange area for supervised transfers of reserve stock into the picking area. The SQL Server mediated integration with EFACS ERP supports order release, inventory status updates, and fulfillment confirmations, enabling up to 500 prepared orders per day under the new warehouse workflows. Operational governance was restructured to reflect system-enforced zones and supervised transfers, standardizing processes for receiving, replenishment, picking, consolidation and dispatch across the site. Mecalux Easy WMS now functions as the operational control layer for Intersurgical Warehouse Management, centralizing inventory visibility and task orchestration across the described functional areas.
