Auckland Council | Government | 6647 | $2.7B | New Zealand | SAP | SAP R/3 | ERP Financial | 2002 | n/a | In 2002, Auckland Council implemented SAP R/3 as its core ERP Financial system. The deployment placed SAP R/3 at the center of council financial operations, providing a foundation for general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, and consolidated financial reporting across council finance functions. Configuration and integration work extended SAP R/3 with targeted functional interfaces. Subsequent program work delivered in 2013 to 2014 included an SAP Business One upgrade with bespoke enhancements and BPO integration into the Council SAP R/3 instance, implementation of a mobile timesheet solution integrated with a Job Management System and SAP Business One, and a Regional Facilities Auckland mobile timesheet integration with SAP R/3 and EBMS. These projects reflected a hybrid architecture with SAP R/3 as the financial core and peripheral applications providing operational and field service capability. Operational scope for the combined estate covered finance, facilities management, job and workforce time capture, and regulatory services. Systems development was explicitly used to enable Food Licencing continuity following the merger of regional councils, indicating coordinated governance between IT teams and regulatory business owners to maintain licencing operations during organizational consolidation. Technically the environment behaves as a centralized ERP Financial backbone, with integration points for timesheet capture, job management, facility operations, and external bookkeeping or BPO services. Workstreams focused on configuration of financial modules, bespoke enhancements to support council workflows, and integration middleware or connectors to synchronize transactional and timesheet data between SAP R/3, SAP Business One, Job Management System, and EBMS. | |
