Duke Energy | Utilities | 26413 | $30.4B | United States | NASDAQ | NASDAQ Adenza Risk Management (ex Calypso Risk Management) | Risk Management | 2000 | n/a | In 2000, Duke Energy implemented NASDAQ Adenza Risk Management (ex Calypso Risk Management) to operationalize centralized control of a $20 billion multi national debt portfolio and to support active mark to market trading for P&L. The deployment targeted corporate treasury, debt capital markets and commodities trading desks, aligning risk processes with FAS 133 derivative accounting requirements. The implementation included upstream trade capture and valuation capabilities typical of Risk Management systems, plus explicit installation and configuration of the InvestOne/Quantum Derivative Accounting System FAS 133 module. Functionality covered interest rate derivative workflows, position management, mark to market valuation and P&L attribution, consistent with management of IR CCIR swaps, futures and interest rate options. Operational integration was centered on internal transactions that moved interest rate risk from commodity trading into the treasury mark to market book, using Eurodollar futures and swaps for hedging and trading. The program established front to back workflows for trade lifecycle, independent valuation inputs and periodic revaluation for an actively traded book, ensuring consistent data flows between trading desks and accounting ledgers. Governance emphasized FAS 133 compliant accounting and program level oversight, with a named project manager responsible for the InvestOne and Calypso installations and for operationalizing derivative accounting controls. NASDAQ Adenza Risk Management was used as the primary Risk Management application to centralize interest rate risk, support active trading strategies and produce mark to market positions for P&L reporting. | |
