eBay Retail 11500 $2.6B United States Google Google OAuth Identity and Access Management (IAM) 2024 n/a In 2024, eBay implemented Google OAuth to deliver Sign in with Google and Google One Tap across its web and mobile platforms, aligned to Identity and Access Management (IAM) objectives. The deployment targeted buyers and sellers to provide a low friction, passwordless sign in experience for an e commerce authentication and CRM use case. Implementation centered on Google OAuth and Google One Tap as OAuth and OIDC based Identity Services, configured to handle authentication flows, ID token issuance, session management, and account linking for buyer and seller personas. The integration embedded One Tap UI flows into checkout and account creation paths and centralized authentication routing through Google OAuth to reduce password entry friction. The rollout was executed globally across eBay web properties and mobile applications, impacting authentication, user registration, and customer profile capture processes. Operational scope included sign in and sign up journeys and downstream CRM touchpoints where identity signals feed customer lifecycle workflows. eBay leveraged Google OAuth and Google One Tap to increase conversion and reduce password related friction, and the rollout improved sign in and sign up completion rates globally, using Google OAuth OIDC based Identity Services to standardize authentication and session handling. This positions Google OAuth within eBay s Identity and Access Management (IAM) stack to support authentication and CRM business functions.
