Innovia Films Manufacturing 500 $215M United Kingdom Loftware Loftware Label Manager Label Management (Printing and Designing) 2013 n/a In 2013 Innovia Films implemented Loftware Label Manager as its Label Management (Printing and Designing) solution to support labeling across manufacturing operations. The deployment was aligned with the companys global manufacturing system, a Java-based MES running on WebSphere application servers with Informix databases, providing a centralized label generation platform for production print needs. Loftware Label Manager was configured to support template management, conditional formatting for complex labeling rules, multi-standard barcode encoding, and print job orchestration to produce both customer-facing and internal labels. Configuration work emphasized rule-driven label selection and dynamic data population to reflect combinations of production conditions and customer specifications. Integration work tied Loftware Label Manager into the existing MES landscape using bespoke application-level adapters and WebSphere-compatible interfaces, leveraging MES transactional data and Informix-hosted reference data to supply label payloads at print time. The implementation targeted manufacturing and production floor operations, aligning label generation with production events and order data feeds from the global MES. Delivery and governance followed an end-to-end engineering lifecycle, using Rational Application Developer and Rational Team Concert for development artifacts, and JIRA for project and task tracking. The small development team retained responsibility for requirements, scoping, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of the label environment, while also coordinating report models in Cognos and intranet application maintenance within the broader IT governance model.
