Pilkington Automotive Glass Replacement identified a need for business-specific demand-planning capabilities to increase revenue and improve customer experience, driven by a complex distribution model with multiple stock locations, expanded product ranges and high volumes of product change. Infor Demand Planning was configured to provide core Demand Forecasting and Planning capabilities including statistical forecasting, SKU-level demand aggregation, replenishment planning and inventory optimization aligned to service-level targets. The Infor Demand Planning application also enabled forecast management and exception-based workflows typical of demand planning deployments, supporting scenario comparison and a planning cadence suited to frequent product change. Deployment focused on Pilkington’s AGR business and its European Distribution Centre, embedding Infor Demand Planning into distribution and replenishment workflows to improve product availability. The implementation linked planning outputs to order fulfillment and stock position processes and was intended to operate across Pilkington’s global AGR network to harmonize SKU-level availability decisions. Pilkington reported running a very diligent implementation and expected Infor Demand Planning to reduce inventory held at the European Distribution Centre while improving responsiveness to customer requirements and boosting customer satisfaction. Operational impacts were concentrated in supply chain, distribution and customer service functions with planning governance adjusted to prioritize availability without increasing cost and inventory.
