Apps Purchases: 10+ Million Software Purchases
Founded in 2010, APPS RUN THE WORLD is a leading technology intelligence and market-research company devoted to the application space. Leveraging a rigorous data-centric research methodology, we ask the simple B2B sales intelligence question: Who’s buying enterprise applications from whom and why?
Our global team of 50 researchers has been studying the digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by 2 million + companies including technographic segmentation of 10 million ERP, EPM, CRM, HCM, Procurement, SCM, Treasury software purchases, aggregating massive amounts of data points that form the basis of our forecast assumptions and perhaps the rise and fall of certain vendors and their products on a quarterly basis.
Apps Run The World Buyer Insight and Technographics Customer Database has over 100 data fields that detail company usage of emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Autonomous Database, and different on-prem and cloud apps by function, customer size (employees, revenues), industry, country, implementation status, year deal won, partner involvement, Line of Business Key Stakeholders and key decision-makers contact details, including the systems being used by Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 companies.

Curtin University | Education | 3887 | $900M | Australia | DownUnder GeoSolutions | DUG Insight | Geology and Seismic Data Processing | 2013 | n/a |
In 2013, Curtin University implemented DUG Insight for Geology and Seismic Data Processing as part of a decade long partnership with DUG Technology Ltd. The agreement provisioned scalable high performance computing, storage and archive capabilities and included proprietary DUG Insight processing and visualisation tools to support large scale research projects such as the Square Kilometre Array. Curtin University implemented DUG Insight for Geology and Seismic Data Processing to accelerate research in astrophysics, radio astronomy, biomedicine and meteorology through access to industry grade HPC and analytics.
DUG Insight was configured to run high throughput processing pipelines, imaging and spectral analysis workflows that are typical for geology and seismic data processing and applicable to radio telescope data. The implementation included code onboarding and optimisation services to adapt research software to DUG’s HPC architectures, plus storage and archive configurations for long term research datasets. Functional capabilities emphasized processing, visualisation and post processing workflows to support both geophysical and astrophysical analysis.
The deployment integrated DUG’s large scale supercomputing facilities with Curtin’s research computing environment and complemented national resources such as the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre. Operational coverage targeted Curtin’s astronomy and astrophysics groups, nodes of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research involved in the SKA Project, and Curtin’s HPC education programs. The solution was provisioned as managed HPC services together with the DUG Insight application to support research workloads and student training.
Governance was formalised through the decade long partnership, setting joint priorities for HPC education, code optimisation, onboarding and collaborative research. The agreement prioritized development of green technologies to reduce the carbon footprint of supercomputing and collaboration on renewable powered data centre solutions. Rollout sequencing focused first on SKA related research groups with plans to extend DUG Insight usage across additional Curtin research fields and training cohorts.
The DUG and Curtin collaboration yielded significant results in radio astronomy and astrophysics, producing new findings related to early Universe signals and co developed algorithms for detecting and monitoring satellites and space debris. These outcomes illustrate application of DUG Insight in research grade signal detection and large scale data processing at Curtin University. Future objectives documented in the partnership include scaling undergraduate and postgraduate HPC training and broadening DUG Insight application across further scientific domains.
