Chubb USA Insurance 31000 $13.0B United States Microsoft Microsoft Azure Databricks (AI) Analytics and BI,Data Warehouse 2019 n/a In 2019, Chubb USA implemented Microsoft Azure Databricks (AI) as a central component of an Analytics and BI,Data Warehouse initiative. The deployment positioned Microsoft Azure Databricks (AI) as the primary environment for large scale data transformation, master data set creation and interactive analytics workloads across Chubb's data engineering estate. Implementation emphasized functional capabilities for data ingestion, profiling, cleansing and transformation, with data wrangling and PySpark pipelines used to convert raw feeds into analytics-ready datasets. The environment supported advanced parsing and unstructured data preparation, Natural Language Processing transforms, use of Hive for partitioned and bucketed analytics, and collaboration with data science teams to prepare and deploy machine learning models. Integrations were explicitly built around Microsoft Azure technologies including Azure Data Factory for orchestration, Azure Data Lake Store for storage, Azure Data analysis service, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure MySQL, PostgreSQL and an Azure based SQL Data Warehouse as downstream targets. The program included API development to scrape external sources, a geocoding proof of concept with an external vendor, use of Azure RestAPIs, and containerized components running on Azure Kubernetes for selected automation workloads. Operational governance incorporated code and design reviews with senior data engineers, CI/CD pipelines managed with GitHub and Azure-ops, and Azure identity management controls for access. Work at Chubb’s Whitehouse Station, NJ environment demonstrated incremental rollout patterns through proofs of concept for automation and a Django-based UI prototype to streamline big data analytics workflows.
