Essentia Health Healthcare 14466 $2.6B United States Epic Systems Epic Slicer Dicer Analytics and BI 2019 n/a
In 2019 Essentia Health deployed Epic Slicer Dicer within its EpicCare instance to expand Analytics and BI capabilities for clinicians and partner organizations. The implementation was managed by Essentia's Enterprise Analytics Standard Reporting team and targeted provider-facing reporting and ad hoc data exploration across Essentia staff and community connect partners that use Essentia's Epic instance. The deployment was positioned inside the centralized EpicCare environment to provide a single source of clinical data for reporting and visualization. Functional configuration included creation of Reporting Workbench reports to surface patient level data and configuration of Radar Dashboards to deliver role specific visual summaries to providers. The team instrumented and supported Epic Slicer Dicer visualizations, enabling end users to generate cohort queries and exploratory analyses directly inside EpicCare. The project team also participated in implementing the Ophthalmology module Kaleidoscope within EpicCare, aligning specialty workflows with the reporting platform. Operational integration included end user training on SlicerDicer and a ticketed support model, with client requests and incident triage conducted through the Ivanti Web Desk system. Coverage was centered on clinician facing business functions, notably primary provider workflows and ophthalmology specialty workflows, and extended to community connect partner users on the shared instance. Architecture and operational control remained within Essentia's centralized Epic instance rather than distributed standalone analytics tooling. Governance responsibilities were handled by the Enterprise Analytics Standard Reporting team, which maintained report configuration, dashboard updates, and user support workflows. Ongoing operational processes emphasized triage, user enablement, and alignment of Epic Slicer Dicer outputs with native EpicCare reporting artifacts.
