In 2018, Mawgif began implementation of IBM Planning Analytics with Watson as its EPM application, engaging IBM partner 1Direction Global to address fragmented transaction data from its parking machines and meters. The initiative was driven by the CFO to accelerate the month end close and to capture and audit every parking transaction across the business.
The IBM Planning Analytics with Watson deployment leveraged the IBM TM1 in-memory calculation engine to deliver multidimensional modeling, automated consolidation and real-time dashboards. Mawgif configured the solution to automate previously manual Excel-based workflows, instantiate automatic reconciliation between operational feeds and financial ledgers, and provide AI-infused planning and forecasting capabilities consistent with EPM functional workflows.
Integrations included a direct information flow between parking machine transaction systems and the corporate ERP so each parking event was recorded, validated and reconciled automatically, enabling near real-time operational reporting. The rollout covered Mawgif operations across multiple countries including Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Jordan and connected more than 4,000 parking machines and meters to the analytic and planning layer, with remote dashboard access for managers.
Governance and operational changes centered on finance and systems support teams who adopted new audit and exception workflows, using the platform to investigate anomalies and to monitor individual machines and users. The program went live in March 2020 and produced explicit outcomes recorded by the customer, including a reduction in month-end closing from three weeks to four days, real-time monitoring that enabled detection of theft at three branches, and an operational performance improvement of approximately 10 percent.
