In 2023 Tekla migrated its storefront to Medusa eCommerce, moving to a composable architecture that paired Medusa as the backend with Vercel and Next.js for the frontend delivery. The Denmark ecommerce project targeted Tekla Fabrics’ Copenhagen operations and was scoped to improve performance and traffic resilience for the retailer’s online channel.
The implementation used Medusa eCommerce as a headless commerce backend, leveraging Medusa’s storefront APIs and standard eCommerce functional flows for product catalog, cart and checkout orchestration. The frontend was rebuilt on Next.js and deployed on Vercel to achieve faster builds and more reliable runtime performance, enabling a clearer separation between presentation and commerce logic for personalized digital experiences.
Agilo led the migration effort and worked alongside Tekla’s in-house teams to integrate the Medusa backend with the Next.js storefront, aligning deployment pipelines and content delivery strategies. Operational coverage included Tekla’s ecommerce operations, web development and digital marketing functions, with the composable stack supporting site performance and frontend experimentation across the Denmark storefront.
Governance changes focused on decoupling workflow ownership between backend commerce services and frontend delivery, and integrating CI CD workflows to accelerate build and release cadence. The project delivered faster builds, better reliability and more flexibility for personalized digital experiences, while Agilo transitioned the platform to Tekla’s in-house operations for ongoing management.
