Rothschild & Co | Banking and Financial Services | 4600 | $3.1B | France | Avaloq | Avaloq Core | Core Banking | 2011 |
In 2011, Rothschild & Co implemented Avaloq Core, a Core Banking application, with implementation services provided by Avaloq Sourcing. The effort targeted wealth management and custody accounting capabilities for Rothschild & Co Wealth Management UK Limited and related client reporting workflows across the Group.
Avaloq Core was configured to support custody accounting, portfolio valuation and client reporting modules, and to serve as the authoritative ledger and valuation source for client portfolios. The deployment enabled generation of quarterly portfolio valuations and historic valuation extraction, with historic valuations available from 1 June 2012 when Rothschild & Co moved to Avaloq. Client-facing functionality was integrated with Rothschild & Co eAccess to deliver online account access, valuations as at close of the previous working day and a secure document safe containing statements, contract notes and tax documents.
Custody and settlement workflows were modelled to reflect Group custody arrangements, client assets being custodied with Rothschild & Co Bank International Limited at St Julian’s Court St Julian’s Avenue St Peter Port Guernsey GY1 3BP, with Rothschild & Co Bank AG appointed as sub-custodian under separate agreements. The custodial chain additionally relies on market agents including BBH, HSBC, SIS and Clearstream for local market holdings, with provider selection performed on a case by case basis following due diligence and service level agreement negotiation.
Operational governance was formalized alongside the system, with a Counterparty Committee reviewing counterparties every six months. The committee, comprising the Head of Investment Platform, senior investment management representatives, the Head of Dealing and Risk and Compliance representatives, assesses creditworthiness, market reputation and ongoing performance, and separately reviews credit exposures to OTC counterparties. Monthly compliance monitoring of best execution and Avaloq-driven reporting feed into these governance routines.
Cash management and client money handling are defined in legal entity terms, cash being held by Rothschild & Co Bank International Limited as banker and may be placed on a pooled basis unless clients expressly prohibit specific investments. Client reporting outcomes explicitly supported by the Avaloq Core implementation include quarterly valuations, the ability to generate historic valuations from 1 June 2012 onwards and online portfolio access through Rothschild & Co eAccess.

Syz Group | Banking and Financial Services | 246 | $76M | Switzerland | Thema Consulting | MasterFinance | Risk Management | 2015 |
In 2015, Syz Group implemented MasterFinance to support front office trading, treasury and FX risk management, with the go live announced in May 2015. The implementation positioned MasterFinance as a Risk Management platform across Syz Group operations in Switzerland, deployed to consolidate front office risk workflows and treasury controls across multiple legal entities.
The MasterFinance deployment covered front office trading modules, treasury processing and FX risk management capabilities, and was configured to support position keeping and consolidated risk reporting workflows consistent with a Risk Management application. Configuration work focused on instrument coverage, trade capture, valuation feeds and operational reconciliation necessary for front office and treasury use cases.
The program was delivered as part of a wider transformation alongside Avaloq, with Avaloq Sourcing listed as the SI VAR and B-Source named as the IT and business process outsourcing partner in the announcement. Integrations were organized within that program structure to align MasterFinance with banking operations, trade processing and shared services across Syz Group multi company Swiss operations, supporting front office, treasury and risk teams.
Program governance combined Syz Group business stakeholders with Avaloq and B-Source partners, operating under a joint project delivery model for implementation and post go live support. The implementation narrative emphasizes MasterFinance as the Risk Management application instrumenting front office trading, treasury and FX risk workflows across the bank.
