In 2018, West Tennessee Healthcare implemented the UiPath RPA Platform to augment Cerner Revenue Cycle, applying Robotic Process Automation to administrative processes such as eligibility, claims management, scheduling, and patient billing. West Tennessee Healthcare enlisted CampTek Software to develop and configure UiPath RPA Platform bots, and procured UiPath licensing and programming services from a prior RPA vendor while building internal capability. Initial development focused on back-scheduling, where a bot moved 12,418 scheduled appointments from the prior scheduling system into Cerner Revenue Cycle with few errors and exceptions, eliminating hundreds of hours of manual data entry. Implemented functional capabilities included automated appointment migration, eligibility verification, claims routing, and billing reconciliation workflows orchestrated within UiPath RPA Platform.
After three hospital acquisitions in June 2018 the team targeted consolidation of billing and accounts receivable into Cerner, using UiPath RPA Platform to extract charges for claims processing. That automation encountered data inconsistencies and other integration issues which caused the RPA consolidation attempt to fail, and the organization resolved the situation through system consolidation and manual remediation. The episode highlighted integration boundary conditions between Cerner Revenue Cycle and source systems, and the need for upfront data normalization and exception handling before scaling automation.
Operationally the deployment spanned Patient Financial Services and administrative teams and was supported by CampTek Software for development while internal IT capacity was increased incrementally. Governance shifted from vendor-led executions to a hybrid model where internal staff began managing UiPath RPA Platform workflows, exception queues, and prioritized use cases. Reported outcomes included improved accuracy in claims and billing processes and measurable time savings on reconciliation and appointment migration, and the program produced clearer process definitions for subsequent automation initiatives.
