In 2008, The DIRECTV Group Inc implemented CGI CACS Enterprise to modernize its collections operating model, deploying the solution in the Debt Collection and Recovery category alongside Strata Enterprise. The deployment targeted the finance and collections process area across the United States, aligning application scope with centralized collections workflows and account treatment orchestration.
The CGI CACS Enterprise implementation concentrated on automating collections workflows and treatment strategies, including account segmentation, contact strategy management, workflow automation for delinquency stages, and exception handling typical of Debt Collection and Recovery systems. Configuration work emphasized treatment orchestration and targeted customer treatments to support faster and more consistent collections actions.
CGI served as system integrator and hosting provider, the application being hosted by CGI with ongoing maintenance provided by the same vendor. The implementation was integrated operationally with Strata Enterprise to support data exchange and coordinated collections processing, with operational ownership residing in DIRECTV finance and collections teams across the United States.
CGI stated the solution was expected to significantly enhance collections capabilities by enabling faster, more targeted treatments while reducing cost and risk, and CGI continues to provide hosting and maintenance as part of the engagement.

In 2007, The DIRECTV Group Inc engaged CGI Group to implement CGI Strata Enterprise, a Business Process Management application. The engagement combined CGI’s CACS Enterprise collections solution with the Strata Enterprise decision engine, and CGI completed the implementation and agreed to host and maintain the solution in April 2008.
CGI Strata Enterprise was configured to centralize collections decisioning and to operationalize automated collections workflows, using the Strata Enterprise decision engine to drive rule-based account prioritization and collections strategies. The implementation focused on collections functional capabilities, consolidating decision logic and orchestration within the Business Process Management platform to standardize collections processing and case handling.
CGI acted as the system integrator and ongoing hosting and maintenance provider, taking on day-to-day operations and service ownership for the deployed solution. This governance model shifted operational responsibility to CGI, the SI, and improved DIRECTV's collections capabilities while enabling DIRECTV to focus on core business objectives.
