In 2023 Granger Construction worked with Dewpoint to use Microsoft Azure Migrate to lift and shift on premises servers and migrate VDI to Azure Virtual Desktop as part of a data center exit and infrastructure modernization in the United States. The Microsoft Azure Migrate deployment focused on Data Migration activities to assess, replicate, and rehost server workloads while moving desktop virtualization into a cloud native delivery model.
Microsoft Azure Migrate was used for discovery and assessment, server replication and cutover orchestration, with Azure Virtual Desktop providing the desktop virtualization layer for end user computing. The implementation consolidated identity and application servers into Azure, aligning server migration and VDI delivery with standard data migration and cloud rehosting workflows.
Dewpoint acted as the implementation partner coordinating migration phases and operational cutovers, executing the project across Granger Construction IT operations and end user computing environments. The scope was a data center exit in the United States with consolidation of core identity and application infrastructure in Azure to support ongoing infrastructure modernization.
The project reduced onsite hardware footprint and lowered projected hardware upgrade costs while consolidating identity and application servers in Azure, outcomes reported by Granger Construction and Dewpoint following the cutover.
