In 2001, LG Electronics Vehicle Component Solutions implemented Oracle E-Business Suite HRMS - Self-Service as its Employee Self Service platform. The Oracle E-Business Suite HRMS - Self-Service deployment was executed as part of a wider Oracle E-Business Suite R12 program to standardize HR and business management processes across LG Electronics.
Between October 2005 and April 2006 LG Electronics deployed a global human resources management system based on Oracle human resources modules, and the HRMS self-service capability was configured to align with those standardized HR workflows. The project used extensive testing, with about 2,200 test scenarios executed across five test cycles, and the program emphasized minimizing customization, data cleansing, and key user participation to validate employee self-service and HR transaction flows.
The implementation integrated HR processes with cross-functional business areas including finance, production, service, and sales and marketing to enable end to end information flow. Oracle SOA Suite was previously used to build standards based integration, and the technical foundation for the Oracle rollout included Oracle Real Application Clusters 10g in a four server cluster configuration to ensure availability and performance. The central Oracle database supporting the ERP and HRMS environment was reported at 5 TB and growing by about 1 TB per month, with peak concurrency of roughly 8,000 users per hour. Implementation partner LG CNS worked jointly with Oracle and LG Electronics to design the infrastructure, deploy the solution worldwide, and provide post go live support.
Governance and rollout were structured with senior management oversight, including quarterly review meetings beginning in October 2007, a stabilization hotline during cutover, and phased subsidiary go lives. Korea and Australia went live in January 2008, followed by deployments in Europe and Asia through August 2008, with additional subsidiaries scheduled through January 2009 and a target to have production subsidiaries on the Oracle ERP suite by 2010. Expected outcomes stated by LG Electronics included faster worldwide account closing, accelerated profitability analysis, increased productivity, reduced ERP maintenance costs, improved global inventory and sales cost visibility, and greater flexibility to introduce or separate business processes.
