AJM Packaging | Manufacturing | 2650 | $450M | United States | Microsoft | Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations | ERP Financial | 2025 |
In 2018, AJM Packaging implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as its ERP Financial platform. The rollout included a module update path from Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 to Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, with internal subject matter experts supporting configuration and cutover activities.
Implementation work centered on operational finance and distribution workflows consistent with ERP Financial deployments, including configuration of warehousing capacity and dock performance tracking, carrier relationship management scorecards, and standardized executive operations performance reporting. The project produced ERP user training manuals and a Best Practice User Guide, and delivered user reports developed with SQL and Crystal Reports, Power BI dashboards, and VBA scripts to operational teams.
The D365 implementation ran alongside complementary systems and integrations that were explicitly supported by AJM staff, including operational support for Grooper by BIS for intelligent document processing, project leadership for acquisition and implementation of a TMS from BluJay E2Open, and enrollment in DAT Benchmarking Services. Reporting and KPI collection were structured to consume data from the ERP and these adjacent systems to feed carrier RFP workflows and transportation management processes.
Governance and process changes were embedded through a coordinated RFP tool and an annual and quarterly carrier RFP workflow, establishment of KPI definitions across carrier scores, fines and loss prevention, and data collection efficiency, and the creation of centralized reporting processes. AJM Packaging positioned Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as the transactional core for finance and operations, supported by documented training, SME governance, and integrated operational analytics.

Magpul Industries | Manufacturing | 230 | $26M | United States | Microsoft | Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations | ERP Financial | 2017 |
In 2017 Magpul Industries migrated from Microsoft Dynamics AX to Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, engaging MCA Connect for the core implementation and positioning the project within the ERP Financial category. The initiative was a combined ERP and WMS deployment with a clear operational mandate to centralize inventory control and warehouse execution in support of manufacturing and distribution at the Cheyenne, Wyoming site. Implementation activity spanned the core ERP Financial modules and the Advanced Warehousing extension within Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, with configuration work focused on inventory ledger integration, warehouse locations and directives, and cycle count orchestration. The Warehouse Support Manager participated on the core implementation team from August 2017 to February 2018 and continued as the operational owner for day to day ERP and WMS support.
Module configuration emphasized Advanced Warehousing capabilities, location setup, creation and maintenance of location barcodes, and the development of an ABC Cycle Count Program. Functional workflows implemented included cycle counting and inventory auditing schedules, inventory adjustments and discrepancy research, and process documentation tied to warehouse directives. The configuration work also covered year end inventory planning and the systematic setup of inventory locations within the ERP Financial environment, aligning warehouse operations with transactional inventory and financial ledgers.
The implementation integrated the WMS workflows with established RF scanning technology, building on an earlier induction of RFSmart software and Intermec handheld scanning devices to support handheld directed putaway, picking and cycle count execution. Operational coverage included warehouse operations, inventory control, and coordination with manufacturing and distribution functions at the Cheyenne facility, with a nine person support team responsible for daily execution and ongoing process optimization. Facility relocation and expansion projects were coordinated with ERP location setup to ensure physical and digital inventory alignment.
Governance rested with the internal warehouse support and inventory control leadership who maintained the cycle count program, audit reporting and continuous process improvements tied to root cause analysis of product flow. Reported inventory accuracy outcomes were explicit, with 2017, 2018, and 2019 year end variance results of less than 0.01 percent, and in September 2018 auditors approved discontinuing the full wall to wall annual inventory based on sustained accuracy. Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations remains the system of record for inventory and warehouse financial integration within Magpul Industries following the MCA Connect led implementation.
