Kalpataru | Construction and Real Estate | 2500 | $400M | India | SAP | SAP SuccessFactors Learning | Learning and Development | 2016 |
In 2016, Kalpataru implemented SAP SuccessFactors Learning to formalize its Learning and Development capability within the broader HRIS program. The SAP SuccessFactors Learning deployment was delivered in collaboration with implementation partner Stepping Cloud, and it was positioned to support the companys centralized HR function across the Real Estate division that spans about 19 group companies and 250 entities.
The implementation aligned SAP SuccessFactors Learning with other SuccessFactors modules including SAP JAM, Recruitment, Onboarding, Compensation Management, Succession Management and Employee Central as part of a unified cloud HRIS footprint. The Learning instance was populated by the L&D team with more than 100 behavioral modules and about 20 technical modules, indicating an emphasis on catalog configuration, course provisioning and role based assignment workflows typical of Learning and Development platforms.
Operational coverage extended across Centers of Excellence for Recruitment and Learning, HR Business Partners responsible for clusters of departments, and the Group HR Council which coordinated policies and best practices across KPTL, JMC, SSL and PSIPL. The deployment also featured external academic collaborations with NMIMS University, ISB Hyderabad and SCMHRD to provision curated courses mapped to talent classifications and the talent management agenda.
Governance was routed through cross functional HR leadership, including the Talent Council and a central HR operations and compensation structure, which enabled coordinated rollout and content curation across multiple entities. The implementation was reported to be completed prior to the pandemic, with the populated LMS credited with revolutionizing the organizations learning methodology, and it formed part of a broader HRIS modernization program that also introduced cloud payroll and mobile enabled attendance capabilities.

Kalpataru | Construction and Real Estate | 2500 | $400M | India | SAP | SAP SuccessFactors Compensation | Compensation Management | 2016 |
In 2016 Kalpataru implemented SAP SuccessFactors Compensation as a targeted Compensation Management deployment within a broader SuccessFactors HRIS program for its Real Estate division, covering 19 group companies and approximately 250 entities. The implementation of SAP SuccessFactors Compensation addressed centralized pay governance for a workforce of roughly 2,500 employees and was positioned alongside Employee Central, Learning, Recruitment, Onboarding, Succession Management and SAP JAM modules that were part of the same program.
Configuration work centered on establishing a central compensation structure and controlled merit and variable pay cycles, using eligibility rules, budgeting and approval workflows consistent with Compensation Management best practices. The team configured calibration session support and role based approvals to align COE driven merit processes with HRBP decision points, and integrated compensation data stewards into the central HR operations model led by the group COEs.
The deployment was executed with implementation partner Stepping Cloud and extended operational integrations to adjacent systems modernized during the same program. The program moved time capture to GPS enabled handheld attendance with geofencing and geotagging and transitioned payroll to a cloud based third party service, enabling handoff of master employee and pay component data from SuccessFactors Employee Central into payroll processing and aligning time related allowances with compensation rules. Learning management content populated into the LMS supported compensation linked talent and succession workflows, and external academic partnerships supported targeted talent development paths.
Governance and rollout were managed through a Group HR Council, Talent Council, central HR Operations and COE ownership, with a cross functional team co chaired by HR leadership driving adoption across clusters of departments. Training and process change were reinforced by LMS courseware and executive talent forums, and the program explicitly delivered a seamless employee experience for payroll modernization and a significant shift in learning methodology through pre pandemic LMS adoption.
