Scope and Challenges

To handle hyperscale growth and support new business opportunities, Accenture migrated its finance and HR system to SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA. It also migrated SAP Business Warehouse powered by SAP HANA to Microsoft Azure and added the SAP HANA platform as a data mart to implement real-time analytics use cases. As Accenture transforms into a digital and more diverse enterprise, both business and IT will contend with a faster pace of change, growth at hyper-scale, and larger volumes of data. 

Furthermore, Accenture put its database on Autonomous mode by selecting Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse.

Outcome and Implications

Proactively mapped out a multistep, multiyear journey instead of waiting until the business required a more robust enterprise resource planning solution. Accenture  Successfully migrated the enterprise database to SAP HANA in six months; this was among the first, large-scale, live systems in terms of database size, users, and transactions

Accenture Figured out how to operate SAP HANA to support its business, ensuring high availability and making sure backups, disaster recovery, and other processes work properly. SAP HANA delivered powerful analytics on real-time transactional data versus extracts and monthly roll-ups to users

The migration to SAP S/4HANA is the biggest change to Accenture’s IT landscape in almost 15 years. But most importantly, it will allow Accenture to run Accenture’s business in a more digital, agile and secure way than ever before, and provides an enhanced ability to support evolving, diverse businesses, enables an intelligent, real-time finance capability, and puts us on a flexible platform for the future. 

Going forward, Accenture will continue to evaluate business needs and leverage SAP S/4HANA functionalities to drive further value to the business, including enhancing intelligent, real-time digital financial reporting, insights and analytics and gaining the ability to leverage future SAP capabilities.
