In 2018 Albemarle implemented SAP Integrated Business Planning, SAP IBP, as part of an Advanced Planning and Scheduling initiative to standardize planning across its global specialty chemicals operations. The SAP IBP deployment was positioned alongside SAP S/4HANA, SAP Transportation Management, SAP Global Trade Services and SAP Ariba to create an integrated planning to execution technology stack.
Configuration work emphasized demand planning, supply planning, inventory optimization and scenario modeling consistent with Advanced Planning and Scheduling practices, leveraging SAP IBP planning engines and constraint-aware scheduling to align supply decisions with commercial forecasts. The implementation included configuration of planning horizons, key performance planning indicators and collaborative demand-supply workflows to support cross-functional planning cycles.
SAP Integrated Business Planning was integrated with SAP S/4HANA for master data and transactional order flow alignment, with SAP Transportation Management to align logistics requirements, with SAP Global Trade Services for trade compliance signals and with SAP Ariba to incorporate procurement demand signals. Operational coverage extended across supply chain, procurement, transportation and planning functions, and the implementation supported a global footprint consistent with Albemarle's specialty chemicals operations.
Program governance and rollout were supported by SAP MaxAttention services, which provided program-level oversight, standardized process templates and phased governance for regional rollouts. As a result Albemarle standardized its planning processes and scaled those processes to accommodate business growth.

In 2018, Albemarle selected ARMS Reliability OnePM for Asset Strategy Management to rapidly develop and deploy new maintenance strategies for the MARBL Lithium Joint Venture Lithium Hydroxide plant in Kemerton, Western Australia. Albemarle holds a 60% interest in the joint venture and this engagement represents ARMS Reliability's first implementation with Albemarle.
The ARMS Reliability OnePM implementation centralized and consolidated master data, structured asset information, and augmented existing records to enable systematic asset maintenance strategy development. OnePM's Asset Strategy Management capabilities were used to build and package maintenance strategies for deployment, and to enable dynamic monitoring of those strategies to help sustain optimal asset performance over time.
Integration work focused on connecting OnePM to Albemarle's enterprise asset management system to allow quick strategy transfer and activation within operational maintenance workflows. Operational coverage emphasized reliability and maintenance planning functions at the Kemerton site and the MARBL JV team, with governance centered on standardized strategy development, packaging for EAM consumption, and continuous monitoring workflows during plant construction and early operations.
