In 2017, Albemarle implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial platform to centralize corporate financial processing and reporting. The SAP S/4 HANA deployment was positioned to support core finance and planning workflows across the company and to serve as the primary source for financial transactions and statutory reporting.
The implementation emphasized financial modules common to ERP Financial systems, including general ledger and financial close orchestration, accounts payable and receivable processes, and fixed asset accounting, while integrating planning and forecasting capabilities through SAP BPC Planning applications. SAP S/4 HANA was configured alongside SAP BPC to enable weekly sales updates and capital project forecasting, establishing a continuous planning loop between transactional finance and operational forecasts.
Integrations included a strengthened SAP Business Warehouse analytics environment, with the analytics and BW landscape expanded to support reporting needs, acquisitions and divestitures. The program involved collaboration with a third party and multiple functional teams to deliver BPC planning models and to extend Business Warehouse reporting, and internal and external audit teams were engaged to validate system and reporting controls.
Governance and operational coverage were centered on a reporting and financial systems team, with a reporting and analytics lead and a group of analysts responsible for architecture, BI solutioning, and rollout coordination. Controls, reporting workflows, and the analytics environment were formalized to support corporate finance, planning, and transaction reporting, while the SAP S/4 HANA and SAP BPC combination served as the integrated backbone for Albemarle financial processes.

| Workday | Legacy | Workday HCM | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2018 | 2019 |
In 2018, Albemarle implemented Workday HCM. The deployment established Workday HCM as the primary Core HR platform to unify HCM, Compensation, Talent & Performance, and Recruiting functions across the organization.
Implementation work centered on module configuration, business process orchestration, and release management. The Workday HCM implementation included configuration and testing of business process steps, notifications, and reporting, and operational responsibility was formalized through an HCM Process Specialist role tasked with configuring, testing, and maintaining updates related to HCM, Compensation, Talent & Performance, and Recruiting.
Integrations and operational coverage were scoped to support system access and benefits eligibility data flows. The HCM Process Specialist role explicitly supports HCM security and Integrations to maintain access rules and approvals and to support benefit provider eligibility files, while also providing end-user troubleshooting, issue remediation, technology request assistance, and escalation management for teammates and managers.
Governance and sustainment practices include development of user procedures, guidelines, and documentation to train end users on new modules and functionality, and a semi-annual update cadence aligned to Workday product releases. The program monitors recurring issues and system or process gaps, with the HCM Process Specialist expected to identify and propose solutions for underperforming centralized services and opportunities to improve HR effectiveness.
