| Bottomline Technologies | Legacy | Bottomline PTX Connect | AP Automation | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2020 | 2020 |
In 2020, Arriva implemented Bottomline PTX Connect in the AP Automation category to centralize payment orchestration for payroll and supplier payments. The deployment targeted payroll payment flows that support highly unionised operations, and the implementation scope explicitly covered payroll and HR payment processing across two train operator companies handling approximately 3,000 employees, aligning the Bottomline PTX Connect application with enterprise payment rails and AP workflows.
The Bottomline PTX Connect implementation included core AP Automation capabilities such as payment initiation, BACS processing orchestration, payment file generation, and reconciliation workflows, configured to interface with payroll and HR systems. Technical delivery included configuration of data transformation rules and monitoring controls, and the programme technical delivery manager led design and build activities to ensure payment orchestration and batch processing aligned with existing payroll cutoffs and banking formats.
Integrations were implemented with downstream and upstream systems explicitly listed in programme documentation, including the payroll system iTrent, HR data in Workday, time and attendance systems IRMA and CrewPlan, finance ledgers in Oracle, and pension processing via RailPen Chrysalis, with additional coordination points to Avature. The technical approach documented AS-IS and TO-BE processes, produced data flow diagrams and integration specifications, and defined monitoring rules for payment submission and reconciliation, while archival and analytics requirements routed legacy payroll and HR data to AWS S3, Athena, and QuickSight for long term access and reporting.
Governance for the Bottomline PTX Connect rollout emphasized coordinated design, build, and testing phases, with a programme technical delivery manager overseeing integration testing and operational handover to payroll and finance teams. The implementation narrative centers on system architecture for payment orchestration, end to end integration specifications, and governance artifacts that supported controlled go live and ongoing operations within Arriva's payroll and AP functions.

In 2017, Arriva Group implemented Workday Absence Management to centralize Absence and Leave Management for HR and payroll business functions. The deployment established Workday Absence Management as the system of record for absence tracking and entitlement logic across the companys HR and payroll domains.
Workday Absence Management was configured with core functional modules including absence recording, entitlement and accrual rules, configurable approval workflows, and absence reporting. The implementation work included architecture design, solution build, configuration, integration, testing and implementation activities led by the internal HR and payroll business analysis team.
Integrations were implemented between Workday Absence Management and Payroll, Time & Absence, and Compensation & Benefits, with an integration architecture designed to synchronize leave balances, time entries, and pay impacting absence data. Operational coverage focused on HR, payroll and timekeeping workflows, ensuring absence events flowed to payroll calculations and compensation data where required.
Governance established configuration control, staged testing cycles, and change management processes to align approval routing and absence policies with HR process owners. Ongoing configuration and test management supported consistent orchestration of absence workflows and data consistency across Payroll, Time & Absence, and Compensation & Benefits.

| Oracle | Legacy | Oracle OBIA | Analytics and BI | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2014 | 2014 |
In 2014, Arriva Group implemented Oracle OBIA as a corporate Analytics and BI platform to deliver consolidated reporting for operational and financial management of its national bus depots. The implementation was scoped to provide a Corporate Data Warehouse to enable full reporting of business functionality and financial data, focused on day to day depot operations and corporate finance reporting.
The deployment used Oracle OBIEE and Oracle Business Intelligence Applications 11g on a platform as a service model, with Exalytics incorporated to improve query and dashboard performance on large datasets. Core configuration work included designing the CDW schema, building the RPD to reflect business reporting requirements, and constructing ETL/data loading processes to populate the warehouse and ensure dataset fidelity.
Integration work explicitly included planning for eventual integration with Oracle EBS 12g to surface transactional financial data into the CDW, and the build focused on aligning the RPD and database models to the enterprise finance and operations data domains. Operational coverage targeted national bus depots and supporting corporate reporting functions, using OBIA analytics modules for operational metrics and financial consolidation workflows.
Governance and delivery included gap analysis against the existing 10g reporting environment, close liaison between Arriva business stakeholders and Oracle to capture and refine requirements, and iterative design changes to the RPD where business needs required. The system underwent rigorous performance testing and three UAT cycles to resolve data anomalies and tune report functionality, with Exalytics deployed to enable higher concurrency and faster dashboard response for end users.
