In 2018 Aviva implemented Oracle Cloud ERP as the core platform for its ERP Financial operations. The implementation focused on centralizing finance capabilities to support accounting operations, reporting workflows, and a standardized global chart of accounts.
Oracle Cloud ERP configuration emphasized finance modules and controls, including chart of accounts harmonization and accounting BAU process automation. The Aviva program delivered Global chart of accounts configuration for the Polish and Irish entities and embedded IFRS 17 reporting workflows alongside routine monthly finance close and investment reporting processes.
The Oracle Cloud ERP deployment was executed alongside broader platform transition work, which included transitioning Oracle R12 workloads toward Oracle Fusion architecture and consolidating source systems into the new ERP landscape. Integration work expressly included leveraging Clearwater Analytics to feed monthly BAU reporting and IFRS 17 and investment reporting pipelines into the Oracle Cloud ERP environment.
Governance and operational change were driven by finance leadership seconded to the UK to lead projects and BAU initiatives, acting as subject matter experts on process improvements, automations, and global process design. Oversight of the accounting function transition and BAU processes aimed to increase operational cohesion and achieved stated cost savings while standardizing finance operations on Oracle Cloud ERP.

In 2018, Aviva implemented Workday Absence Management. The Absence and Leave Management deployment was configured alongside Workday HCM modules including Payroll, Benefits, Time Tracking, Recruiting, Compensation, and Performance Management to centralize leave and absence workflows across HR and payroll domains.
Configuration work covered Workday Absence Management functional elements and broader HCM components, with implementation activity including absence plans, leave types, balance calculations, business process configuration and extensive reporting. The team also configured Payroll, Benefits, Time Tracking, Total Compensation, Base Compensation, Variable Compensation and created custom reports and calculated fields to support operational and regulatory reporting needs.
Integrations and data orchestration were executed using Enterprise Interface Builder EIB, Core Connectors and Workday Studio, with Workday Cloud Connect used for third party payroll interfaces. Reporting and statement generation leveraged Workday Report Writer and BIRT to build custom, advanced and matrix reports, and integrations were designed for payroll unified with Workday HCM and project and work management interfaces.
Operational scope encompassed HR, Payroll, Benefits and Finance functions and extended to Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, General Ledger, Procurement and Expenses as part of the broader Workday footprint. Governance activities included defining, documenting and testing functional business processes, developing a reporting strategy for the HCM domain and advising the business on use of delivered Workday reports.
