In 2017 Axiata implemented Microsoft Dynamics AX as an ERP Financial solution to consolidate and operationalize group finance for Axiata Business Services and its subsidiaries including Xpand Investments Labuan and Axiata Global Services. The Microsoft Dynamics AX deployment was positioned to support statutory reporting, group consolidation, and full set of accounts activities across the finance organization.
The implementation focused on core financial modules within Microsoft Dynamics AX including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Management and Fixed Asset management. Configuration work covered month end, quarter end and year end close processes, movement and intercompany transaction handling, monthly depreciation and PPE accounting, petty cash and bank reconciliation workflows, and the consolidation module which was automated to replace manual Excel processes.
Operational coverage centered on finance and consolidation teams in the Axiata Business Services organizational unit, with the system used for accounting of enterprise and Internet of Things solutions, global communications products, international wholesale services and associated digital services. Deployment activities documented system settings and configuration parameters, and the finance team worked closely with consultants to ensure appropriate accounting rules and mapping for subsidiary reporting.
Governance and process change were driven by a named project manager who led the end to end financial reporting setup for the subsidiary in Labuan and engaged in deployment activities for other group entities. The program included process improvement, standardization and simplification of reporting working files and the automation of the Consolidation Module within Microsoft Dynamics AX, improving the consistent application of statutory and audit reporting requirements across the covered entities.

In 2018, Axiata implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central to centralize Core HR records across the group. SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, referred to internally as BEATS, became the primary application for employee master data and HR transaction capture for Axiata Group Berhad.
Configuration and day to day use concentrated on employee information management, dependent records, and periodic KPI data entry with HRIS staff performing checking and updating of employee information in BEATS. Operational workflows included structured data entry, monthly verification routines, and routine administrative support tasks to maintain data quality.
Operational linkages were explicitly established with SNAX and AIA for monthly verification of employees and employees' dependents as billed, and the HR team maintained a formal submission process of monthly payroll instructions to KPMG. These connections positioned SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central to support benefits billing validation and payroll instruction orchestration across HR and payroll administrative functions.
Governance rested on a formal monthly verification exercise and defined handoff procedures for payroll instructions, with HRIS operations and general administrative processes supporting ongoing data maintenance and reconciliation. The implementation emphasized procedural controls and a regular cadence for benefits and payroll coordination to sustain employee data accuracy.

In 2021, Axiata implemented SAP Concur Travel in a Travel Management capacity. The deployment of SAP Concur Travel addressed corporate travel booking and expense administration across Axiata Group.
The rollout targeted Axiata Corporate Center and multiple subsidiaries, with initial configuration and administrative hubs based at the Kuala Lumpur headquarters. Implementation encompassed configuration of travel booking workflows, expense reporting, approval routing, and policy enforcement aligned to Group finance rules and travel policy.
Technical work included an automation layer to synchronize SAP Concur Travel SaaS data with Axiata's SAP ERP, and a bespoke Axiata Travel & Expense Employee Management system built on ASP.NET MVC and SQL Server that integrates with IBM GERS. Data integration automation between SAP Concur and Axiata's SAP was developed to enable posting of expense transactions and to align travel spend feeds with financial ledgers.
Operational ownership was retained by Group Finance and ERP Financial Systems teams, aligning Concur operational workflows with existing Financial BI processes that aggregate subsidiary ERP data into the Group Financial Data Warehouse for statutory and performance reporting. Governance emphasized centralized finance controls, standardized approval workflows, and automated data flows to reduce manual reconciliation.
