In 2013, Carolina Health Care implemented Kaufman Hall ERP within an Education ERP,Healthcare ERP footprint to centralize core financial reporting and budgeting workflows across its enterprise reporting environment. The Kaufman Hall ERP deployment was positioned alongside existing enterprise reporting components to support financial transaction processing, budgeting, and reporting for the finance organization.
The implementation scope focused on building and updating core system tables in a large enterprise reporting system, and supporting advanced technological and functional capabilities of core financial systems. Functional capabilities implemented included query and report development, allocations, process workflow automation, and development of XML and PeopleSoft nVision based financial reports, as well as configuration of Kaufman Hall Budget Advisor reporting objects.
Integrations and data orchestration tied Kaufman Hall ERP to PeopleSoft based financial sources and to feeder system exchanges that used Excel and MS Access for intermediate data handling, with Oracle and MS SQL serving as database platforms. Technical workstreams included troubleshooting information sharing and data integrity across PeopleSoft, Kaufman Hall and spreadsheet-based feeds, and use of PeopleSoft Query for investigative and corrective tasks.
Governance and operational processes emphasized rigorous test and validation of infrastructure enhancements, verification of transaction accuracy and timeliness, and preparation of correcting journal entries when feeder exchanges produced exceptions. Build and test cycles were used to mature queries, allocations and workflow processes before migration to production, with the rollout organized to serve the functional customer base in finance and reporting.
