In 2020, Ericsson Germany implemented SAP S/4 HANA. The deployment targeted core finance and master data functions with SAP S/4 HANA positioned as the central ERP Financial platform for the Germany organization, following a migration from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and aligning to an S4 HANA 1909 baseline together with SAP MDG 9.2 for master data governance.
The implementation included end to end SAP MDG capabilities, covering MDG Customer, MDG Vendor, MDG Material, MDG Finance and Custom Master data domains. Configuration work encompassed creation and extension of data models and entities, validation and derivations using BRF Plus, workflow configuration for create process block unblock and mark for deletion, duplicate checks and DRF framework setups, and MDG Financial tasks such as profit centre and profit centre group hierarchies, G L account creation and cost centre provisioning within MDG F.
The technical architecture was built on SAP HANA technologies and ABAP on HANA, leveraging CDS Views and SAP S HANA replication components including SLT, DM and DP where appropriate, and implementing SAP UI5 front end elements with SAP NetWeaver OData services for user interactions. Integration work focused on interfaces and data replication pipelines to feed S 4 HANA master records and financial ledgers, together with traditional ABAP based integration artifacts, LSMW and batch data capture tools for migration activity.
Project governance followed standard SAP delivery phases with requirement gathering analysis development testing Go live and support, with coordination across onsite and offshore teams. Operational controls and process ownership were formalized around MDG workflows and BRF Plus rulesets to govern master data lifecycle activities and enforce validation and approval workstreams for finance and master data domains.
