In 2019, Francis Tuttle Technology Center implemented BirchStreet AP 3-Way Auto-Match as part of a broader adoption of BirchStreet Systems' full procure-to-pay platform. The deployment included the eProcurement, AP Automation, Inventory Control and Recipe Management System modules, with BirchStreet AP 3-Way Auto-Match positioned to automate invoice to purchase order to receipt reconciliation within the AP Automation category.
The implementation configured recipe-driven purchasing and inventory controls to support culinary workflows, allowing users to load base recipes, enumerate ingredient lists, scale quantities and generate purchase requisitions from recipe requirements. The Inventory Control and Recipe Management System modules were used to maintain multiple inventory locations and to reconcile transfers between classrooms, restaurants and retail outlets, while AP Automation centralized invoice matching and approval workflows for procurement and finance teams.
The solution was delivered as a cloud-based platform accessible across Francis Tuttle’s three campuses, one business innovation center, three restaurants and two retail outlets, enabling instructors, chefs and sous chefs to access procurement and inventory screens from iPads in classroom environments. Operational coverage emphasized tracking spending by classroom, enforcing budgets, providing accountability for moved products, and supporting ordering and fulfillment across disparate campus and retail sites.
Selection of BirchStreet followed an internal recommendation from a Le Cordon Bleu instructor to the Director of Culinary Arts, and Francis Tuttle retained the previously implemented competing purchasing food and beverage system without continued use because it did not meet inventory tracking needs. Culinary Procurement Specialist Raymond G. Esquibel, Sr. noted the cloud-based, customizable nature of the platform facilitated accuracy and real-time visibility, and the system was also adopted as an educational tool for students within the culinary program.
