In 2010, London Gatwick Airport implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 in an ERP Financial initiative. The deployment delivered an enterprise ERP landscape that included ECC, SRM, PI, BW and Solution Manager, executed across two primary datacentres with a designated disaster recovery site, supporting core finance and procurement business functions.
The program included a migration and upgrade of the ERP landscape into two datacentres, and configuration of high availability and virtualization infrastructure. VMware vSphere Metro Storage Cluster was implemented to enable live VM migration using vSphere Storage vMotion between datacentres. Solaris and Unix server consolidation was completed for critical applications HRMS, IDAHO, OSP and Maximo, migrating those workloads to Solaris LDOMs and zones.
Integration work provisioned SAP PI middleware connections to operational systems and BW for enterprise reporting and analytics. A Solaris clustering solution was deployed to host Oxygen services such as RPP, OSP and AODB, and a proxy farm with high availability was provisioned for the FIDS cloud solution. AWS systems were stood up to support management business services, and centralized patching across Solaris and Red Hat estates was implemented using Solaris IPS and Red Hat Satellite.
