SAP Legacy SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Global Benefits Benefits Administration HCM n/a 2018 2018
In 2018, HSBC Bank USA implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Global Benefits as part of a broader HSBC global SAP SuccessFactors talent suite program. The deployment was delivered as a SaaS based implementation aligned to a four year, $400 million program covering approximately 300,000 employees across HSBC, and the workstream specifically addressed Benefits Administration and HCM product strategy alignment with HSBC future state architecture. SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Global Benefits was configured to support centralized global benefits management workflows, eligibility rules and entitlements. The program included functional rollout of Rewards for all countries and targeted Global Benefits deployments for the United Kingdom and Hong Kong regions, and it consolidated assessment functionality by moving from Questionmark to the SuccessFactors assessment engine. Integration and technical architecture work focused on the SuccessFactors EC module and security model, with explicit accommodation for Workday and broader HCM integration architecture. The implementation emphasized cloud based SaaS orchestration for core HR and benefits data flows to ensure consistent master data and role based access across participating regions. Governance followed agile delivery practices with Jira and Confluence based backlog and sprint management, and a defined release management strategy that introduced automation of regression test scripts using TOSCA. Operational execution included product backlog prioritization, release and sprint scheduling, and vendor management, and the assessment consolidation and test automation measures produced explicit cost and resource outcomes stated in program documentation, including a 500,000 pound per year reduction in assessment costs and a reported reduction of 9 FTE in the Talent Suite space.

IDEMIA Legacy IDEMIA GREENPAY Card Personalization ERP Services and Operations n/a 2021 2021
In 2021 HSBC Bank USA deployed IDEMIA GREENPAY, a Card Personalization solution to introduce recycled PVC payment cards across its card portfolio. Working with vendor IDEMIA, the deployment targeted debit, credit, and commercial cards as part of a global rollout that began in Malaysia in January 2021 and expanded through Sri Lanka, the UK, Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Macau, Mexico, Singapore, UAE, and the US by the end of 2021. The programme set a timeline to eliminate single use PVC by the end of 2026 as it coordinates material substitution across card production workflows. The IDEMIA GREENPAY implementation concentrated on material configuration and personalization workflows, replacing standard PVC with recycled PVC rPVC and aligning card production processes to rPVC handling requirements. Configuration included issuing rPVC as the default material for new and replacement cards and embedding material selectors into card manufacturing and personalization pipelines, consistent with Card Personalization functional needs. The solution supports card lifecycle activities such as personalization, fulfillment, and material specific production controls to ensure compatibility with recycled substrates. Rollout coordination was handled through card issuance and fulfillment operations so customers requesting new or replacement cards received rPVC cards first, while existing cards were preserved until natural expiry. Availability varied by country as each market joined the programme, and operational coverage extended across HSBC’s global issuance footprint rather than a single site. Governance included progressive issuance policies and supply chain sourcing standards to support HSBC Bank USA’s sustainability targets, including a commitment to reach net zero in operations and supply chain by 2030 or sooner and a broader net zero commitment by 2050 or sooner. The migration to recycled PVC under IDEMIA GREENPAY is reported to reduce CO2 emissions by 161 tonnes per year and save 73 tonnes of plastic annually based on HSBC’s current annual card volume.
