SAP SAP Apparel and Footwear (SAP AFS) SAP S/4HANA for Fashion and Vertical Business Retail Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2021 2021
In 2021, Altra implemented SAP S/4HANA for Fashion and Vertical Business as its core Retail Management platform, replacing SAP Apparel and Footwear SAP AFS. The deployment was positioned as part of a broader VF Corporation retail transformation and focused on centralizing retail master data and transactional processing into the S/4HANA fashion vertical. The implementation included SAP S/4HANA for Fashion Retail Solution and an integrated SAP CAR POSDM footprint to handle point of sale data consolidation and customer activity reporting. Configuration work emphasized merchandising and assortment management, inventory visibility, pricing and promotions support, and POS data capture workflows consistent with Retail Management functional expectations. Integrations were explicitly designed to connect SAP S/4HANA and the CAR platform with external systems, including Salesforce, IBM WebSphere WCS, order management systems OMS, APTOS POS, SRMS, CRM endpoints, EDI flows, and PKMS. Integration patterns focused on transactional synchronization for orders and inventory, POS event ingestion into CAR, and master data harmonization across e-commerce, store, and wholesale channels. Governance and delivery were structured through partnership among business stakeholders, an integrator, product owners, and enterprise architecture teams to design, develop, and implement scalable retail solutioning. Operational scope covered retail, e-commerce and store operations for VF brands including Altra, with the implementation laying a foundation for tighter cross-system orchestration and future integrations within the Retail Management landscape.
