In 2016 IDS implemented Zabbix ITSM in the Remote Monitoring and Management,IT Service Management category to formalize network monitoring and incident handling across its aerospace and defense engineering operations in Italy. The deployment targeted network operations and security operations, establishing a single monitoring and ticketing backbone to support systems engineering and SOC functions.
Zabbix ITSM was configured to deliver continuous device and service monitoring, event correlation, alerting, and IT service management workflows aligned to incident management. Configuration emphasized monitored hosts, templated checks, threshold-based alerting and automated creation of service tickets, providing an operational bridge between monitoring events and ITSM processes.
The implementation operated alongside IDS security tooling, with Zabbix used for network monitoring and control in concert with Cisco FTD next generation firewall management. Alarm integration with the RSA Archer platform is documented, and Zabbix monitoring ran in the same analytics and SOC stack that included ELK Stack expertise and SIEMonster based orchestration, while endpoint protection, email protection and sandboxing tools supported complementary detection and response capabilities.
Governance and operationalization tied Zabbix ITSM outputs into security incident management, ISO/IEC 27001 documentation and KPI tracking, and periodic gap analysis against NIST cyber security requirements. Operational processes were retooled to propagate monitoring alarms into ticket workflows and SOC dashboards, aligning Remote Monitoring and Management,IT Service Management tooling to IDS governance and compliance activities.
