In 2021, Kier Group deployed eArcu ATS & Onboarding within its HR onboarding function. The rollout targeted applicant tracking and new hire documentation across Kier Group operations in the United Kingdom, supporting an employee base of approximately 11,083 and aligning recruiting to onboarding workflows for construction and real estate business units.
The eArcu ATS & Onboarding deployment focused on core Applicant Tracking System,Onboarding capabilities including candidate lifecycle management, electronic offer and contract generation, and centralized maintenance of electronic employee records. Configuration work emphasized automated contract creation and onboarding document processing to reflect existing HR activities such as raising new contracts and processing onboarding documentation.
Operationally the eArcu implementation co-existed with established HRIS and case management tools referenced by HR staff, including Oracle, Taleo and EDM, while onboarding workflows continued to reference DBS documentation processing and security clearances managed through Verifile. The platform supported HR onboarding administrators and specialists acting as first point of contact for internal and external queries, enabling case management and remote agile working patterns noted in HR practice.
Governance and operationalization included role based access for onboarding administrators, structured training for new team members, and stakeholder meeting cadences to improve interdepartmental relations. The implementation concentrated on standardizing onboarding workflows and centralizing document maintenance and query handling within the HR onboarding function using eArcu ATS & Onboarding.

The deployment established COINS ERP as the core system for project accounting and commercial management across large infrastructure projects. The COINS ERP implementation concentrated on project accounting, commercial management, quantity surveying workflows, short term cash flow forecasting, quarterly forecasting, annual planning, and equity accounting for joint ventures and joint operations, reflecting typical Construction ERP functional coverage. Deployment architecture included a platform migration of COINS ERP onto a new IBM AIX platform and support for multiple core ERP upgrades, while the broader IT programme consolidated on-premises datacentres into two externally hosted virtual data centres, extending the COINS ERP footprint to Kier’s overseas companies. Operational scope covered commercial teams, project finance and quantity surveying across more than 70 large infrastructure projects, with the system used to enforce financial controls for tenders, mobilisations and ongoing project reporting. Governance and process changes embedded regular short term cash flow forecasting cycles, quarterly forecasting and annual planning into project delivery governance, and supported tender and mobilisation controls through the life of each project. Key implementation activities cited include the migration to IBM AIX, multiple COINS ERP system upgrades, and a later transition of the team from COINS ERP to Oracle, an effort explicitly noted as improving accuracy, quality and timeliness of financial deliverables; these workstreams were delivered alongside a three year £6M Microsoft enterprise agreement and datacentre consolidation initiatives that contextualized the COINS ERP rollout within a wider infrastructure programme.
