In 2010, Laboratorio Silanes implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its ERP Financial platform. The deployment was positioned as the company-wide system for financial and operational record keeping and included a concurrent implementation of SAP Payroll.
The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 rollout covered core modules FI, MM, SD and Planning, with ongoing configuration changes and ABAP development performed to adapt standard workflows. A designated function was responsible for management of SAP system information across the entire company, administering configuration, custom ABAP code and module-level settings.
A self-built BI system was created to aggregate and analyze SAP data, using MySQL, Microsoft Access, Excel and Outlook. That BI layer is updated automatically each day and distribution is managed by emailing refreshed data to interested users, with the BI extracts connecting to SAP to retrieve information in near real time for analysis.
An intranet was developed on Ubuntu servers using MySQL as the database and applications built in PHP, HTML, Javascript and CSS HTML5, the intranet interfaces directly with SAP to surface and interact with transactional information. An Access-based equipment control program is being migrated to MySQL to unify equipment control functions with the intranet and centralize data storage.
Operational coverage included company-wide business functions spanning finance, procurement, sales and planning, with user training provided to increase skills in Microsoft software as part of adoption activities. Governance activities emphasized daily BI refresh cadence and application management, and the project explicitly included implementation of the intranet alongside SAP Payroll to extend operational tooling.
