In 2018, Leonardo DRS implemented Deltek CostPoint as its ERP Financial solution. The initial deployment emphasized finance and planning workflows and was led by a planning manager serving as SME for Deltek CostPoint and MES Solumina within the Melbourne Florida planning organization.
Deltek CostPoint was configured to support project and cost accounting, procurement and inventory control, and integrated shop floor consumption patterns using Auto/Complete and Backflush functions. Configuration work included role based access for planning and supply chain users, setup of transaction templates for program accounting, and configuration of inventory transaction flows to support manufacturing consumables.
The implementation included integration with the MES Solumina environment to enable production transaction exchange and shop floor backflush into Deltek CostPoint, and to feed supply chain performance metrics for the Integrated Program Team. Operational coverage emphasized planning, supply chain, and program finance, with data flows orchestrated between MES and the ERP Financial ledger and inventory modules.
Governance and adoption were driven by a structured training program that delivered a training guide, on boarding checklist, and skill assessment test for the planning team. Continuous improvement activities included multiple Kaizen events, leadership of CI initiatives, and a targeted RTV process redesign that combined process mapping, team training, a 6S workspace reset, and establishment of KPIs to govern returns to vendor workflows.

In 2012, Leonardo DRS implemented SAP SuccessFactors Compensation as its Compensation Management solution to support a newly consolidated business group merging Proxy and SSA companies. The deployment targeted compensation governance for a decentralized engineering and manufacturing organization that included approximately 2000 employees across Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, New Hampshire, Florida, and Canada, plus a 150 person service center population managed by the group HR function.
The implementation emphasized the SuccessFactors variable pay module, configured to manage plan based variable compensation, eligibility rules, approval workflows, and payout calculation logic consistent with enterprise compensation administration. Configuration work included compensation worksheets and role based approval routing to align HR, compensation managers, and executive signoffs with documented plan rules and payout schedules.
This Compensation Management effort was coordinated in parallel with a third party SCA administration system implementation, with the HR team defining true up processes, data requirements, and calculation rules for Service Contract Act administration. The program involved close coordination with Corporate Benefits, ERISA counsel, and payroll and HR process owners to ensure compensation, benefit contributions, and administration flows aligned across multiple business units and sites.
Governance and process changes were implemented through centralized group HR oversight, including RIF and relocation tracking for approximately 300 impacted employees, WARN notification and RIF approval package preparation to meet legal compliance. Explicit operational results tied to the coordinated SCA work included a three year true up that produced $480,000 in back pay for 300 plus employees and a transition from cash payments to 401k QNEC contributions, while relocation activities achieved a 40 percent acceptance rate.
