Configuration work emphasized master data alignment and process standardization to enable more consistent ledgers and near real-time finance analytics typical of ERP Financial systems.
Operational coverage extended across Leonardo S.p.A.'s five business divisions and was scoped to support finance, planning, and cost management functions that underpin business-critical operations. The program sought to create a common finance platform to reduce fragmentation and provide a foundation for subsequent process automation and intelligent enterprise services.
Accenture was engaged as the implementation partner and the rollout used SAP ActiveAttention to support a controlled go-live and stabilization phase. PwC served as the system integrator and provided PMO and testing coordination for a global HRIS rollout covering UK, EU and US resources, aligning Core HR operations across a 62,012 employee aerospace and defense organization.
The deployment concentrated on Core HR functional capabilities, including employee lifecycle management, organizational management, position and job structures, employee self-service and security role design. Workday HCM configuration work included tenant setup, Workday DA review and internal reporting creation, requirements analysis, and the creation and management of design change requests.
The program operated under a waterfall project management approach, with Jira used for UAT ticketing and reporting, testing reporting and triage sessions, and monitoring of testing KPIs. PwC managed a testing population of more than 200 testers, maintained RAID logs, and executed CR cost evaluation and proposal workflows to control scope and design changes.
Governance was centralized through a PMO function run by PwC, which produced project plans, milestone and dependency tracking, weekly status reports, SteerCo presentations, and stakeholder meeting management. Training and learning development activities were part of the rollout, with a cited project budget of Eur. 160,000 for AMCO related work, and a post go-live support model was created to sustain HRIS operations.
Project objectives were reported as achieved and transformation management was completed with the establishment of a post go-live support model. Workday HCM serves as the Core HR system underpinning Leonardo HRIS processes following this implementation.

Governance changes accompanied the deployment, instituting audit trails, chain of custody controls, and formal approval paths tied to EHS and facilities responsibilities. Rollout activities prioritized process standardization and targeted training for environmental and facilities personnel to ensure consistent manifesting and compliant documentation practices.
