Workday Infor Lawson Workday Financial Management ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2013 2014
In 2013, The Metropolitan Museum of Art implemented Workday Financial Management to establish cloud-based HR and finance technology across its institution. The deployment was positioned to address ERP Financial requirements for the museum’s finance and accounting functions while consolidating financial processes into a single cloud platform. Workday Financial Management was configured to support core ERP Financial capabilities typical for an institution of this scale, including general ledger consolidation, accounts payable workflows, procurement controls, financial reporting, and budget management. Configuration work focused on chart of accounts alignment, period close orchestration, and role-based controls to reflect museum finance and grant accounting workflows. The implementation replaced Infor Lawson and centralized transactional finance activities for finance, accounting, and procurement teams museum-wide, enabling a unified cloud architecture for HR and finance technology. Data migration and integration efforts concentrated on consolidating financial master data and transactional records into Workday Financial Management to support ongoing operational finance processes. Governance and process changes emphasized centralized financial controls and standardized approval workflows, with configuration of audit trails and access governance to match institutional policies. Rollout planning prioritized staged adoption across functional finance units, aligning system configuration with the museum’s existing accounting and operational procedures.

Workday Legacy Workday HCM Core HR HCM n/a 2015 2018
In 2015, The Metropolitan Museum of Art implemented Workday HCM as part of its Core HR program. The Workday HCM application was provisioned to support HCM, FINANCE, TIME & ATTENDANCE and PAYROLL capabilities for a roughly 2,300 person organization and to centralize Core HR functional workflows. The deployment established a Business Strategy and Analytics team charged with development and continuous improvement of Workday operations, configuration of module capabilities, and automation of business processes. That effort converted over 987 old manual and redundant processes into 146 fully integrated and automated definitions across HCM, FINANCE, TIME & ATTENDANCE and PAYROLL modules, consolidating process logic and standardized data definitions within the Workday HCM environment. Operational integration focused on close collaboration with HR Business Partners, Finance Administrators, and the Payroll Manager to ensure consistent policy execution, implementations, and administrative activities across museum departments. The program coordinated the museum global Workday strategy and produced training course solicitations and training activity reports to support adoption and ongoing operational readiness. Governance and portfolio management were formalized through an established governance process for special projects and programs, aligning Workday priorities with museum strategic plans. The team conducted advanced studies and analyses of business activities, developed recommendations for Group Heads, contributed to annual objective setting and periodic strategic planning, and monitored progress against stated goals using dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, and metrics.

Rollout and governance were organized through an internal BI center of excellence with appointed data stewards responsible for metric definitions, report validation, and access governance. Integrations used native Power BI connectors and scheduled ingestion processes to bring institutional data into managed datasets, while training prioritized self service analytics workflows for departmental users and centralized report publishing to maintain version control and compliance.
