In 1999 NBCUniversal implemented FIS GETPAID as an AR Automation solution to centralize Accounts Receivable and Collections for its Recreation Group accounting operations. The deployment was aligned with a departmental structure that managed up to 7 direct and up to 38 indirect reports, covering Financial Statement Analysis, Financial Reporting, Accounts Receivable, Credit and Collection, Cash Control, Real Estate Accounting and Vault Operations.
The FIS GETPAID implementation focused on collection management and automated credit and collection workflows, with configuration work to support cash control and receivables reporting. Enhancements were delivered to the GetPAID Collection Management Software to improve ticketing coordination and streamline collections processes, and process reengineering reduced manual touch points across billing and cash application activities.
Integrations were implemented with SAP and the VGS ticketing system to synchronize transactional AR data and case management events, enabling reconciled customer balances and coordinated collection actions between systems. Operational coverage spanned departmental accounting functions within the Recreation Group and extended to offshore service delivery after role transfers were coordinated.
Governance and rollout were led by an internal project manager who directed system upgrades and process changes, coordinated the transfer of six full time job duties to offshore vendors, and orchestrated process streamlining across accounting operations. System upgrades and process changes produced documented outcomes including over $500K in cost savings from the upgrades and over $300K in labor cost savings from the offshore transfers, while materially improving collection efficiency through the FIS GETPAID AR Automation implementation.

Operational ownership is centered with NBCUniversal talent acquisition and recruiting teams across the company, using Infinite BrassRing to centralize applicant data and standardize hiring processes. Governance and process controls include configurable approval routing and recruiter workflow orchestration to enforce consistent requisition to hire procedures, while the system remains externally available via the careers site for candidate self service.

The implementation configured core Legal Practice Management capabilities common to e-discovery platforms, including legal hold orchestration, matter and custodian intake, evidence collection and review orchestration, and case-level workflow management. Exterro Zapproved ZDiscovery was brought into NBCUniversal’s established application provisioning pipeline, leveraging automated ServiceNow-driven provisioning and post-build application configuration processes used for cloud and platform packages.
Operational governance for the Exterro Zapproved ZDiscovery rollout aligned with existing software license governance and legal hold notification controls maintained by NBCUniversal’s corporate applications teams. The initiative was organized to integrate with enterprise authentication and records workflows, standardize matter onboarding and legal hold timing, and sit alongside the company’s broader legal document and records management programs.
