In 2015, Oil Search Limited implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as part of a broader SAP and SuccessFactors program, initiating a high level design of the entire SuccessFactors product suite. The initial deployment focused on configuring basic people and position records in SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central to serve as the HR mini master to be consumed by SAP.
The rollout configured Employee Central modules to establish core person and position data, and also included configuration of the Performance Management module, with Performance Management configured during the phase but scheduled to go live 12 months later. Detailed specifications and configuration were captured using SuccessFactors workbook methodology, and a data migration methodology and field mapping were defined to populate the new HR mini master.
Internal subject matter experts were seconded to the project team and worked with the implementation partner and business stakeholders to validate development via playbacks, organize and run User Acceptance Testing, and define an ongoing data maintenance process. The integration design explicitly targeted feeding Employee Central HR records into SAP, positioning SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as the authoritative Core HR source for downstream SAP processes.
Governance emphasized SME driven design authority and stakeholder engagement, with a named point of contact for HR data design questions and post go live support. The project achieved all milestones on time, maintained a consistent green RAG status, and the SME led the team of subject matter experts throughout the implementation.
