In 2017 Douglas implemented GK OmniPOS as its Point Of Sale solution to standardize the in-store transaction layer across its international retail estate. Douglas is the leading omnichannel provider of premium beauty in Europe, operating approximately 850 stores, and the GK OmniPOS deployment was positioned to support retail transaction processing and omnichannel customer engagement at the store level.
The GK OmniPOS implementation addressed functional Point Of Sale capabilities including transaction management, payment processing, returns and exchanges, receipt generation, price checks and loyalty validation, as well as in-store order capture for ecommerce fulfillment. Operational responsibilities explicitly included manual and automated testing of the GK OmniPOS cash register software, development and maintenance of international test cases, and creation of documentation and training materials for internal teams.
Operational coverage extended across Douglas retail stores in Europe and involved coordination between international IT teams, business departments and external service providers for bug fixing and system changes. Quality assurance and release coordination used Confluence and Jira for test planning and issue tracking, and routine operational tasks were performed in standard Windows and Office environments.
Governance around the deployment emphasized a product expert model for QA, cross-functional stakeholder management, and the ongoing development of test automation to maintain application stability.
