SAP Legacy SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial ERP n/a 2017 2017
In 2017 Philips Morris International implemented SAP S/4 HANA as an ERP Financial application across its global SAP landscape. The engagement emphasized SAP S/4 HANA BASIS and security architecture with operational responsibility for production and QA systems, covering more than 175 individual SIDs and a 24 x 7 support model staffed across 57 onshore and offshore resources. The implementation included detailed access and authorization work streams, where a Role Strategy Document was created to define more than 900 roles, and roles were built using PFCG. BI authorization and analysis authorizations were configured with RSECADMIN and RSECAUTH techniques, authorization fields were maintained via SU20, and Info Objects were set as authorization relevant to enable granular analysis authorizations. Operational and technical controls were configured using SAP Solution Manager and CCMS for system monitoring, Control-M 6.2 for orchestration of roughly 20,000 daily batch jobs, and coordinated administration of 3,500 printers worldwide under a formal change process. The BASIS team performed kernel upgrades, database and buffer tuning for a 30TB BW system, created databases schemas and users per project requirements, configured production high availability with standby hosts, migrated SAP S/4 HANA content from Development and Test to Production, and completed a SP9 to SP10 stack update. Governance and process restructuring included security kickoff meetings with functional Business Process Owners to map transaction needs by role, establishment of ARIBA authorization models with parent and child realms and unit authorizers granting access by budget org code or commodity, and quarterly system refresh planning using templates for R/3, ECC, APO, CRM, SRM and BW. Change control, escalation procedures, and on-call rotations were formalized to resolve critical issues and support emergency migrations of batch jobs and variants into Production.

SAP Legacy SAP HCM Leave Management Absence and Leave Management HCM n/a 2013 2013
In 2013, Philip Morris International implemented SAP HCM Leave Management as a centralized Absence and Leave Management solution to formalize leave workflows and align absence processing with HR operations. The SAP HCM Leave Management deployment was positioned to serve HR, payroll, benefits administration, and labor relations functions within the consumer packaged goods company. Configuration work centered on employee lifecycle events and absence processing, reflecting existing HR tasks such as induction interviews and onboarding of new employees, employee management for new hires, promotions, leaves and dismissals, and preparation of indemnity packages. The implementation included leave request and approval workflows, entitlement and absence tracking, and setup to feed payroll and time reconciliation processes consistent with standard Absence and Leave Management functionality. Operational integration linked SAP HCM Leave Management to the companys employee master data and time and attendance control, and it coordinated with payroll and benefits administration including employee life and health insurance and ancillary benefits such as day care and gym membership. The system was used to support union engagement activities by surfacing absence records and employment status during negotiations and liaison interactions with tobacco union leaders and union appointed representatives. Governance and controls were implemented to support reporting and HR analytics for senior management and to provide auditable records for SOX audits, with workflow-level approvals and role-based access for HR, payroll and labor relations personnel. SAP HCM Leave Management is explicitly used to connect absence administration to payroll processing, HR reporting, compliance audits and operational HR case handling within Philip Morris International.

SAP SAP Travel and Expense Management SAP Concur Travel Travel Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2017 2017
In 2017, Philips Morris International migrated its SAP Travel and Expense Management to SAP Concur Travel in the Travel Management category. The initiative centralized travel and expense controls across regional affiliates in Latin America and Canada, establishing SAP Concur Travel as the primary platform for travel booking and expense reporting. SAP Concur Travel was configured to consolidate travel booking and expense workflows and to standardize expense policy enforcement across affiliates. The implementation included the Concur Travel and Expense solution migration and a Single Sign-on rollout to streamline user access, reducing friction for business users moving between corporate applications. The program coincided with broader IT rationalization, migrating four local client server solutions to hosted or cloud deployments and replacing a local third party check printing process with an internal global finance printing solution, which processes over $4M in checks annually. The team also contributed to customer engagement tooling by assisting the design and look and feel of a Salesforce app provided to the companys B2B customer base. Governance and operational change were led by a regional project leader responsible for Service Management initiatives across all LA&C affiliates, supervising six Customer Services managers and conducting their performance reviews. The leader also directed a sourcing shift from CapEx to OpEx for desktop equipment, leading the analysis and proposal with Finance that achieved upwards of $50,000 in savings as part of the procurement to leasing transition.
