| Salesforce | Legacy | Salesforce Field Service (ex ClickSoftware) | Field Service Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2018 | 2018 |
In 2018 Ryder implemented Salesforce Field Service (ex ClickSoftware) within its Field Service Management environment to support field-based sales and service workflows across its transportation operations. The engagement began with targeted Service Cloud schema customization on standard objects including Leads, Accounts, Contact, Opportunity and Products to align CRM records with field service and sales operations requirements.
Configuration work centered on creating modern Enterprise Lightning Apps using Lightning App Builder and Lightning Components, and on building multiple custom Lightning Components with added CSS and design parameters for improved UI consistency. Development included enabling the Aura Framework through Aura attributes and handlers, building Visualforce pages, Apex and JavaScript code, and implementing Field Service Lightning features to support scheduling and mobile field interactions.
Integration and data consolidation activities employed Web Services using WSDL, SOAP and REST APIs, and bulk data work used Apex Data Loader for migrating data from prior systems and consolidating multiple Salesforce instances into a single org. Junction objects were designed where needed to model many to many relationships, and advanced field types were implemented including picklists, custom formula fields and field dependencies to enforce business logic.
Automation and governance included designing validation rules, workflows and approval processes for automated alerts, field updates and email generation, along with creating requirement specifications to guide development. The program used Salesforce sandboxes for configuration and staging, coordinated closely with IT to execute changes on schedule, and produced reports and dashboards to track process metrics and identify data quality issues while coordinating data cleansing efforts.
The work affected sales operations and field service functions by establishing a configured Salesforce Field Service (ex ClickSoftware) platform within the Field Service Management category, formalizing Sales Operations procedures, and embedding API and data migration patterns to support ongoing integrations and operational data governance.
