In 2021 Sedgwick implemented Workday Absence Management as part of a coordinated global Workday HRIS program. The deployment was executed alongside HCM, Advanced Compensation, Benefits, Time Tracking, Reporting, Onboarding, and Performance Management modules to create a unified Absence and Leave Management capability across the organization.
The implementation included configuration and administration of Workday Absence Management and related Time Tracking functionality, with business process configuration, security role design, calculated and custom fields, report writing, and EIBs for data load and extraction. The team managed historical data collection and validation to ensure integrity and accurate mapping for downstream reporting and compliance.
Workday Absence Management was integrated into outbound payroll flows, with configured payroll interfaces for the US, France, United Kingdom, LATAM and APAC boundries, and operational collaboration with ADP Global View and other third party payroll vendors. The Absence and Time modules were explicitly connected to payroll integrations to preserve payroll tax, deductions, and earnings taxability across multiple countries.
Governance was led by the Global Workday HRIS Lead in partnership with IT, Finance, Payroll, Benefits, People Insights and Analytics, and Compliance, enabling cross-functional signoff on configuration and data models. The program included preparation of company compliance reporting such as EEO 1 and Affirmative Action data, and ongoing alignment to federal, state and local tax regulations to support accurate payroll integration.
The project delivered successful on-time delivery and a global partnership model to operationalize Workday Absence Management, with ten configured Absence and Time Tracking deployments spanning five countries and affecting up to 30K workers. Operational ownership emphasized centralized configuration, reporting accuracy, and continued administration of Workday Absence Management within Sedgwick’s broader HRIS estate.
