The implementation targeted full lifecycle enterprise support, combining systems management for the SAP system and interfaced systems across the SAP landscape.
The environment was operated on SAP ECC6 EHP7 with NetWeaver 7.4 components including Enterprise Portal, PI, and Solution Manager 7.1, with explicit Basis consultation, administration, and systems delivery responsibilities. | SAP | Legacy | SAP HCM (HR) | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017 St Andrew's Healthcare implemented SAP HCM (HR) as its Core HR application. The deployment was managed from the Northampton site and is described as an ongoing responsibility for full lifecycle support of the SAP system landscape, covering conceptual design through to post support and day to day operations.
The SAP HCM (HR) implementation encompassed HR and payroll functional modules, employee self service and manager self service, plus integration points to Successfactors talent management components including recruitment, talent management and E Learning. The technical scope extended into adjacent SAP functional areas such as FI, CO and SD procurement which were supported by the internal SAP team for enhancements, developments and business as usual activities.
Architecturally the environment is based on SAP ECC6.0 EHP7 with NW7.4 Portal, SAP PI and EP middleware for interface orchestration, Solution Manager 7.1 for system administration, and Content Server and MDM components. Explicit integrations and operational tooling include Successfactors, Kronos time and attendance, a Tradeshift EDI interface, SAP PI administration, Commvault backup software, and MS SQL Server 12 for database administration. A demonstration on premise SAP HANA test system was created to support analytical research and troubleshooting, while virtual hardware and Windows 2012 and Windows 2016 operating systems were maintained with regular OS patching to reduce vulnerability risk.
Operational governance established change and problem management to ITIL v2 and ISO27001 standards, with monthly coordination meetings with the managed services service delivery manager to align BAU and change activities. The internal team provided SAP Basis and functional administration, mentored SAP team members across HCM, FI, CO and SD, coordinated two external services for support escalation, and produced annual budget requirements for licensing and run costs to sustain the SAP HCM (HR) Core HR landscape.
