| Workday | Legacy | Workday Compensation | Compensation Management | HCM | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019, TAL Australia implemented Workday Compensation to establish a centralized Compensation Management capability within its Workday HCM environment. The deployment was executed as part of a wider Workday footprint that the HRIS team manages, including HCM Core, Recruiting, Time and Time Off, Talent Management, Performance Management and Workday Learning, and the HRIS Manager retained ownership for ongoing maintenance and roadmap delivery.
The Workday Compensation implementation focused on compensation planning and configuration aligned to performance and talent data to support merit and incentive cycles and pay decision workflows. Workday Compensation was configured to leverage Talent Management and Performance Management inputs for approval routing and pay component setups, reflecting standard Compensation Management functional flows for salary and variable pay governance.
Operational integration included a recurring payroll integration cadence with the payroll team, with payroll interfaces executed on a fortnightly basis, and close day to day coordination with the Workday vendor and an offshore shared services team. ServiceNow was used as the case management tool to monitor incidents and requests against agreed service level agreements, and HR operations, payroll and talent teams were primary operational stakeholders for the compensation processes.
Governance was formalized through an annual Workday roadmap, with the HRIS function acting as system consultant to the business and owning system configuration, optimization and change control. The implementation supported organizational change use cases, including a successful completion of the Suncorp life insurance business unit acquisition and an internal IT organization restructure, with the Workday Compensation configuration and related integrations maintained as part of those integration and restructuring activities.
