The engagement is documented as part of the Finance Transformation Project where the role of Functional Consultant and Lead Analyst centered on solution analysis and functional design for university finance operations.
Oracle E-Business Suite was configured with standard ERP Financial capabilities, with functional design leadership focused on core finance modules such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets and Cash Management, plus invoicing and procurement accounting workflows. Solution analysis and lead functional design activities emphasized chart of accounts alignment, accounting event mapping and parameter configuration to support centralized financial control and reporting.
The program incorporated a formal review of integrations business and technical design to ensure interfaces with campus administrative systems and transactional feeders. Integration planning covered payroll feeds, procurement and purchase-to-pay touchpoints, student and research finance interfaces, and bank payment connectivity, with interface specifications and technical design reviews captured by the project team.
Governance was exercised through a Technical Design Authority committee and repeated technical design review cycles, with the Functional Consultant and Application Analyst providing lead functional design input and review of integration designs. | Oracle | Legacy | Oracle E-Business Suite HRMS | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2021 | 2021 |
In 2021 The University of Manchester reimplemented Oracle E-Business Suite HRMS on an R12.2.11 baseline. The project began in February 2021 and continues under a project lead role, operating with a delivery team of 10 and executing an end to end lifecycle from discovery through design, build, testing and deployment to support Core HR functions via Oracle E-Business Suite HRMS.
Technical configuration emphasized application tier development and integration, including Oracle REST API webservices implemented through Integrated SOA Gateway and XML Gateway, PLSQL development, Oracle Application Framework pages and workflow customization. RICE components were developed for forms, reports, interfaces, conversions and extensions consistent with Oracle E-Business Suite HRMS patterns. Reporting and analytics were addressed through Excel4apps, Oracle APEX and PowerBI to provide operational and management reporting capabilities.
Tooling and interface architecture included Bitbucket for version control, FlexDeploy as the data migration and deployment orchestration tool, and Jira for backlog, testing and release coordination, reflecting a controlled continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline. Integrations were architected using Integrated SOA Gateway and XML Gateway to expose REST API webservices and support system to system interfaces. The implementation supported HR operations and adjacent core finance application responsibilities noted in project governance.
Program governance formalized resource and work allocation through capacity planning for enhancement estimates, coordinated release management, and continuous maintenance and improvement processes. The team executed structured testing cycles and used FlexDeploy for deployments, with change control tracked in Bitbucket and Jira. Governance and workflow restructuring aligned development, testing and deployment activities for the Oracle E-Business Suite HRMS Core HR environment.
