In 2016 Tonn and Blank Construction implemented Procore Document Management. The deployment targeted project level document control across the construction and administrative teams of the 200 employee general contractor, focusing on submittals, contract documentation, and document workflows used across active projects.
Procore Document Management was configured to enforce version control, drawing management, structured submittal workflows, transmittals, and permissions. Configuration work emphasized standardized filing taxonomy, naming conventions, automated notification workflows, and role based access controls to support project managers, superintendents, and administrative staff in routine document lifecycle tasks.
The implementation operated alongside Microsoft Office applications used for document authoring and for import and export of specifications and Schedule of Values artifacts. Operational coverage included project management, field operations, and central office administration, and the system was used to organize submittal review cycles, attach documents to RFIs, and produce closeout packages.
Governance was formalized with role based responsibilities and a training program aligned to the organization’s willingness to acquire specialized training and prior experience with Procore and construction submittal processes. Process changes centered on standardized submittal routing and approval workflows, and administrators leveraged existing staff proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction documentation practices to accelerate adoption.
