SAP Legacy SAP ERP ECC 6.0 ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2015 2018
In 2015, University of Tennessee implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to centralize core finance functionality under the ERP Financial category. The deployment emphasized SAP financial module programming and configuration work, including creating document types and workflow within SAP, researching and setting up recurring documents, and editing web pages within the SAP portal site to support finance user interaction. Implementation scope concentrated on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, with direct collaboration between technical teams and AP and AR staff to create new organizational systems and align transaction flows. The project included creation of user accounts and role provisioning in the third party ARCHIBUS system, and interfacing SAP ERP ECC 6.0 with multiple third party software systems to enable end to end financial processing and data exchange. Governance work focused on workflow rules, document type standards, and operational handoffs, supported by training for end users on third party software applications and oversight of back end operations for those systems. The narrative centers on SAP ERP ECC 6.0 for ERP Financial, linking application configuration, integrations, and finance process restructuring across the university finance function.

SAP Legacy SAP HCM (HR) Core HR HCM n/a 2013 2018
In 2013, University of Tennessee implemented SAP HCM (HR) as its Core HR application. The deployment positioned SAP HCM (HR) as the authoritative system for HR and payroll records across campus administrative units and academic departments, consolidating workforce information to support centralized HR processes. Technical work focused on regular development of critical queries for HR and Payroll within SAP, using a variety of software tools to fulfill distinct end user needs. These queries served Budget and Finance, Compensation and Benefits, and Payroll teams, enabling operational extracts, ad hoc reporting, and structured output to support payroll processing and compensation administration workflows. The implementation leveraged configurable HR reporting and query capabilities inherent to Core HR systems to provide timely workforce data to stakeholders. Operational governance included an escalation path for HR SAP technical problems beyond the help desk, with technical staff responsible for troubleshooting, custom query development, and direct engagement with upper management and a broad set of functional domains. Support practices emphasized building trust and working relationships across units, delivering targeted technical solutions to complex payroll and HR reporting issues across the university.

Oracle Legacy Oracle Student Cloud Student Information ERP Services and Operations n/a 2023 2023
In 2023, University of Tennessee implemented Oracle Student Cloud as its new Student Information platform to consolidate system-wide student services. The deployment, branded internally as DASH Student, is a statewide initiative covering the University of Tennessee System with five public campuses and two statewide institutes serving nearly 59,000 students, and it explicitly replaces the institution’s prior Banner and CAMS environments with a single cloud-native student record solution. The Oracle Student Cloud implementation centers on core functional modules for curriculum registry, term and non-term financial aid packaging, multi-year scenario course planning, and real-time student insight and reporting. Oracle Student Cloud is configured to provide self-service academic management for students and administrative workflows for enrollment, advising, and financial aid offices, aligning Student Information capabilities with common higher education operational processes. Architecturally, the University of Tennessee positioned Oracle Student Cloud to work seamlessly with its existing Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications for finance, human capital management, and supply chain, and to run on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. This integrated stack is designed to create a unified data model and enable system-wide intelligence from back office finance and HR through to student-facing services, supporting real-time visibility into business processes and consolidated reporting across institutions. Governance and rollout are being executed as a system-level program with Early Adopter Program collaboration with Oracle, enabling the UT System to influence product direction while coordinating a phased, institution-aware deployment. Administrators expect the University of Tennessee’s Oracle Student Cloud implementation to streamline processes to make it easier for students to access classes, financial aid, and support, and to provide a simplified, holistic view across data sources that enables faster, more accurate decision making to support student success.
